Anybody using 10 strand B50 strings for 45#recurve? I just made one up,my chart says 45-55 10 to 12 strands. It seems scary thin.

I usally make a 12 strand B50 for bows under 50#,I have done a 10 strand for my old 45# recurve. But I prefer a 12 strand for my nock fit,I didn't see any advantage going to a 10 strand in dacron.

I don't care for tiny strings, especially dacron.  More stretch, less durability.  'Course the only way to know if you'll like it is to experiment.

Just made a 12 strand tonight and was thinking the same thing about making a 10 strand. I was making mine for a #45 bow as well.

Maybe not for a 45# bow but I did make a 10 strand for my daughters 20# recurve.

Before serving the center I run 3 strands of B50 to give me the nock fit that I want.

On my 2 bows in my sig line I use 12 strand & first serve the center with some B50 then serve with #4, gives me the nock fit I want & is pretty darned durable.

I don't worry much about my serving.I usually tie a knock above and below my arrow.Dental floss between builds to my knock size.
The string stretched so much I could play a tune on it if I knew how.I think it will be a challenge to quiet it down.

I've always used 14 strands for a 45 pound bow. It makes my nocks fit better that way.

imo, 10 strands of dacron is too few for a 45# holding weight bow.  go with 12 strands or better yet make it 14 strands.  or best yet, if it's a modern stick bow, ditch the dacron and use an 8 strand hmpe string with padded loops and don't look back.  :)

Not everyone prefers hmpe strings.  Go wilth 14 strands and you will always be safe.

Better safe then sorry, may save this one for a lighter bow.
