Alright guys bare with me I'm not much a story teller but I'm gonna give this a go.  Mike Davenport introduced me to trad back over the winter. Sold me my first single stringer and welcomed me to the gang. So we finally had some time off at the same time and made plans to go after some turkeys this AM. Plan was meet at 5 A.M. my place and get into position underneath several unsuspecting toms well before fly down. As we reached the property a storm was brewing off to the northwest following the I64 corridor which is quite common. With the thunder booming in the distance some toms were starting to shock gobble. We both looked at each other with great excitement like a couple of boys on xmas morning. We beat feet to selected ambush spots and set up. Things were sounding quite promising as day light and the storm both approached. We were in for a little suprise ourselves when one of the neighbors decided to set up in the same woods were hunting and bumped out all of our roosted hens. We all know what happens when the real thing leaves the oppisite side of the woods. So with the turkey hunting looking grim and the weather looking fierce we decided to make a break for the truck. At this point, the storm had moved close. We had 1/2 mile of open country to get back to the truck and find any shelter taller than a cut corn stalk. I push 5'11" on a good day mikes a few heads taller than me. As we leave for the truck he says dont make fun of me if take off running..... I thought he was joking. We arent 50 yards from our cover and the sky is throwing sparks. Mike wasn't joking he takes off. I follow suit. So I have to set the picture. Mike 6' 4" running across a chisseld plowed corn field carrying his Stalker Long bow, a teepee blind, pack on his back and hunkered down so he is almost my height. Me two steps behind same load only with my Great Plains long bow. We were quite a sight. Needless to say we made it back to the safety of the truck and waited out the storm there. Saw some birds from the road but never got into any action. But christmas day was waiting for me at the post office when we took our mid morning break. Here are a few pics of my new Lost Creek Life Ender. Just arrived today.

Funny story right there!!! I would have loved to been a camera man! I think you guys should have set up camp at the post office knowing that beauty was there. Awesome looking bow! I'm picturing a black quiver on that bow now, OH MAN!!!

Brother all I can say is that I run well for a fat guy    Had a great hunt and if we had not been visited by an alien tryin' to run a box call, we might have had a heavier load on the run out!

By the by fellas, that bow shoots as good as it looks. Even with my monkey arms it is quite smooth at 56". I got bets the bow and the author of this post puts a turkey on his back before our Illinois season is out!

As for me, well, I am a big donut for one after this am hunt. Somewhere there is a jake with a new flat-top haircut with all the ladies in tow  

I sure hope your right Mike. The action got a little hotter this AM. Had a couple of toms hang up at 60 yards put on quite a show strutting. Gonna try a new game plan along with the new bow tomorrow AM. Gotta get the turkey mojo etched into those Osage limbs!!

Well, we had the same crap down here in Johnson Co.  Only thing better was I was close to the house.  Made it back slightly wet and THEN the fireworks started....

Had some birds showing some interest but... oh well, tomorrow perhaps....

Great lookin bow....

Boy!, that is one "yaller bow". Osage is my most favorite bow wood. It mellows to the most beautiful amber/brown with age.

If you are only 5' 11" and can keep up with that long legged Mike, you really had your wheels spinnin!
