Hello everyone.

I've never used wipe on before.
Will the oil based wipe on poly build up to a SMOOTH AND SLICK type finish? Or does it not fill the pores and more or less soak in?

Thinking about using it on arrows. I know many people use it and like it.

I've had arrows made that didn't have the pores filled and I didn't like them. Just felt and sounded rough on the draw.

If it does build up to a smooth surface, about how many coats does it seem to take?

Thanks a bunch!

i use the stuff almost daily for things other than arrows and bows.  the quick answer is, absolutely yes - it will be glass smooth as long as the wood is well sealed/grain filled - just like any other kinda wood finish.

for arrows, either doug fir surewoods or typical poc, for me it takes 3 wipe-on coats to seal, the fourth coat is real glossy and where i stop - but another coat will seal the deal.  0000 steel wool buff between coats.  don't put on heavy wet wiped coats, just thin wipes are best.  the stuff dries/cures pretty quick and all the coats can be done in a day's work.

It is good stuff and quick and no heavy fumes.

I have used it on old drums, bows and arrow shafts. As said above, great stuff!

Rob, has got it!! I use several coats let dry well between coats and after the first 2 coats I hit with 0000 steel wool between coats and put on at least 3 more. Remember several light coats is better than a couple thick ones. Shawn

Just got done using some minwax wipe on to seal a broken and sanded down arrow.

Really works well. Kinda fool proof.
Now on to the real deal!

Thanks for the help everyone!
