Anyone have any tips or suggested products, such as the fletching zipper-thingy from 3Rivers?

I know wraps are cheap, but I am trying to be frugal...maybe needlessly so.

The glue is supposed to bond to the wraps, if the glue did it's job I dont think you can save the wraps.JMHO

I had a similar question, then noticed this post. I've capped and crested my arrows basement style. any way to strip the feather and glue off without damaging my paint job?

Onestringer sells them so cheap why bother trying - get like 8 dozen for 20 bucks (solid colors)

For paint, tape off your crest and nock end and sand and respray the cap.

Wraps would be history.

If you use fletch tape your wifes hand held hair dryer works great . Then be carefull on the little dab of glue on the ends.

Yeah, I know they are cheap; I referenced the fact they were cheap in my initial post.

Removing the dang things is another story. This batch was my first set, and I was concerned with how well they would stick to the shaft, so I prepared the shaft as I would for direct feather to shaft adhesion. Worked too well, and now the dang things do not come off without a lot of elbow grease.

Cat22, if you go slow and just do where the feather is you can get by with only a little damage to the paint.

When you refletch you can touch up on each side of the feather. Good luck.

Heat them up with a hair dryer. It will make the glue soft and makes it easier to pull off. If you take your time peeling them off most of the glue will come with the wrap. Stripping the wraps off is the worst part of the whole process, but it will save your shafts in the long run.

If you used fletch tape on the feathers rather than fletch-tite adhesive, it can be done. With a razor blade utility knife, and being careful, cut the dab of glue from the leading edge of the feather. Once the glue is cut free from the wrap just pull the feather off, then remove the fletch tape if it stayed on the wrap and not the feather. It will rub off with your finger. Lightly sand the glue spot, wipe with alcohol swab, let dry and replace the damaged feather.

I have yet to remove a fletch without damaging the wrap.

I greatly appreciate the offer. I can afford new wraps (I have a dozen or so laying around), but was wanting to avoid having to remove the wraps if I could. As I said, they are a supreme pain in the butt to remove.

I am planning on switching to fletch tape once I have exhausted my supply of glue, which should be awhile because I found Loc-Tite Gel Super Glue on sale for $.50 cents a bottle and stocked up.

Buy your wraps from Onestringer and add the "Double Dogg" option for $3.  It is a clear wrap that goes over the top of the wrap for protection.  It will help keep the wraps looking good for thousands of shots and when you damage a feather you can peel the clear wrap off and refletch.  

It's way easier than any of the other solutions suggested and cost effective because you can salvage the actual wrap.
