Sunday my son was baptized and afterward we went out to the woods for some arrow flinging celebration!
He's growing strong as he can now shoot my 45# Bear Alaskan. I bet he's pulling around 36#'s at his draw which is a big jump from last year.
I realized while making this video just how relaxing shooting can be, even if you are just watching.      :D

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

Looking great!! good job having no pressure on him!!!
"instinctive archery" is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

Nice Job...soon he is gonna want to hunt in your favorite stand

I like the last bit where he tells you how to work the camera.  I've got a new bow coming for my 5 yr old daughter.  She's been shooting a little more lately and has really taken an interest in it after coming with me to k-zoo this year and shooting at the balloons with the other kids.  Taking her to Compton's this year (our 1st) and she's pumped after I showed her the pics of the dino targets and other little kids with bows.

I feel just like he does when I shoot. That's part of the reason I started shooting again in the first place.

Come to think of it I have  a lucky arrow too   :readit:

Yup, I had to chuckle when he remembered his lucky arrow.

Thanks for all the kind comments!!! :campfire:

I found through teaching a few youth classes that most kids just want to see the arrow fly and pushing them too hard can set them back. They get the jitters and focus too much on what their doing wrong. In most cases the kids figure out how to compensate on their own.  ;)

I was laughing at both his "lucky arrow" and technical advise. One thing for sure, he will tell you what he's thinking, LOL! It seems a lucky arrow is in everyones quiver. It's almost an instinct we archers have, to call something lucky and it gives us extra confidence.

I can't wait to see Jr's face Dave!!! I love it when he says, "A longbow would be better."  :biglaugh:
