I just got started in Trad shooting. And I'm going full in fast. I already make my own strings and am learning to make bows then arrows. I have a PSE heritage recurve 55/60 and a semi recurve 38 @ 28.

I would like to know what's a good long bow to buy for a beginner about 45lbs? I have a 29"DL. Not to expensive.

Lost Creek. Click on the sponsor list and you will find his website.Very nice bows. Love them.

I have a Crooked Stic 3 piece takedown longbow that is 45#@28" AMO 64". It is a very nice shooter; quiet, quick and little to no handshock. It also happens to be very good looking with the cocbolo dymondwood riser and tips.

I concur with azhunter bout the Lost Creek bows. Chad is a fine gent. Also look at Black Creek bows from swampmaster. Jim is a fine gent as well. Only problem you got is we have too many fine folks and bowyers to choose from here on the gang !JMHO

Alot of bows out there to chose from,  I bought and sold several from here on the classified adds.  It's a great place to start looking.  If you get one that doesnt quite fit you, you can always trade it off or sell it for another.  Lefties tend to be somewhat less expensive than a right hand bow.

I third the Classified here, there are quite a few lefty for sale right now.

I had a Northern Mist Whisper that was a very nice bow. The reverse handle seemed to really make it "hit where I looked". I've seen some on the classifieds for a pretty reasonable price.

I have to agree, the classifieds here would be the best place to look for a good used bow. There are a couple of nice leftys on there right now.

Yea you aren't able to deal in the classified ads till you have 100 posts under your belt tho. the montana longbow that bear makes is fairly affordable and shoots nice I tryed one awhile back.

yeah, there's always real sweet deals on lefty's in the classifieds...I have fallen prey many times and happier because of it.

Glad to hear you're jumping right into the deep water...this is such a rewarding adventure.

Welcome aboard!

To clarify the classifieds, you can use it to buy a bow, you just cannot post one for sale until you have 100 post.

The classified are a great place to look for a good used Bow.
Being a Leftie myself, I've found that most, not all, LH Longbows that are offered are pretty heavy (draw wt.). A bow like you desire (wt. + cost) goes fast there! Keep checkin'!
Many great Bowyers (sponsers) here that could build ya a fine Bow at a fair price to your specs. I'm fixin' to "pull the trigger" on a Kanati real soon, a well regarded Bow ( and Bowyer)!

Chad has a couple on sale right now that should ve great for you. Lost Creek bows are loved by their owners for a reason. Great bowyer, great looking bows, & great shooting bows. You can't go wrong & the prices on the couple he has on sale make it a no brainer for a lefty looking right now with that poundage. Call him & I'm sure he will do you right.

Get some thing 45 at your DL. Shoot a zillion arrows at a bag target at 8 yds. SL

Get a 45lb  bow at your DL. Shoot a zillion arrows at 8 yds or so. SLOWLY expand your range and poundage. Trust me. You will thank me for this. Read the line after my input. This is not a a short term endeavor. There is not a time where you can say, I got it. It is a life time effort. It will be worth it.
