I sure have enjoyed time well spent with bowyer Jim Jones. We struck up a friendship a few years back while he was building me one of his 3 pc  Firefly takedown longbows. Since then we've had the chance to hunt together, shared campfires, shoots, and the never ending talk of bow design and traditional archery. We've harvested osage for risers, searched for the always elusive morel mushroom, and shared our hunting stories. We've had many talks about lifes trials and tribulations and we typically always come back to the old saying that "the best things in life are free". I just recently asked Jim to build me another Firefly to join my original. I favor the low wrist Route 66 model. Jim..thanks again for your friendship and building such a beautiful bow. A wise old owl once told me that true "friends are friends forever". Here's a few pics of my fireflys..They are shooters !

Hey Steve,

VERY NICE!!!  I think this qualifies as "rubbing it in"!

I really want to try one of Jim's bows.  Do you know if he's going to be at Compton this year?

I have never owned one, but I have shot one and they are a dream in the hand. The craftsmanship is as good as any out there. If I was into glass bows he would surely be on my VERY short list!

Nothing better than a lifelong friendship. Beautiful bows.

Larry... I should know how you love bows!!    :D      ;)

Tim... I'll be at comptons with my low wrist versions and Jim should be there also.... lets try and arrange to meet.

Thanks to all the others for such nice comments..Jim is a true gem and he has really come up with a limb formula that is dead quiet, vibration free, and snappy quick...

Love my Firefly.  Couldn't think of a better guy to build them either - Jim's a class act all the way.  I'll never give mine up, it's part of the family now.

Jacobsladder - what is the riser made out of?  I love that jet black contrast, I bet that would look just awesome with some osage!

wihill...the riser with 1 accent stripe is charcoal dymondwood...the limbs are grey stained quilted maple..

the other riser with the multiple accent stripes is dymalux... Jim calls is thunder color....but don't know the exact color.....the limbs are natural quilted maple on the belly and black glass on the back........ These bows flat out shoot!

Nice, bows and friendship enjoy and cherish all three.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
