Just wondering when the bucks drop their antlers in your area. I am in east central Mo. and got a trail camera pis this morning with two bucks that had not dropped yet. The pic was dated today. They were yearling bucks.

Most of ours are on the ground already...
I'm getting more dangerous all the time...

You will generally find that the younger the buck, the longer they hold on to them.

buckracks7

I found a decent 8 point shed Saturday.
If it's in your way, move it.

Knapper

I live in Southern Indiana and I have been out quite a lot over the past three weeks and have seen several deer but none with racks.  I have been turkey scouting and stump shooting.  The only things that I have picked up are ticks.

I have herd a rumor of a group of naturalist, who go around and super glue the antlers back on the deer,in a attempt to save the environment.:)Sorry! just had to!

BuckyT

I occasionally get some bucks with some headgear still clinging this time of the year.  Got a pic last week of a 7pt and a little 3pt still holding on to both sides.

Bout 5yrs ago, I found a fresh scrape during this time of the year.  Set my camera over it and got about 7 different bucks checking it.  Not a one of them had an antler.  All scabby heads! lol

In MN. I have not seem any head gear after late Jan. That isn't to say they all dropped buy then, but none that I saw. My son found a nice shed in late Dec., and Saturday I went to the same spot and found the other side only 20 yards away from where he found his. I also found another small one 10 yards from that one.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Wampus

Got some pics from Mar 19th with one big buck dropped and two smaller ones still wearing their antlers.

reddust

The big bucks have droped them last month, there are still a few small ones that have not droped yet.

Where I live in southeast Texas, some of our buck deer have dropped their antlers while others have not.

X2 - most ours have dropped and I suspect most of yours have as well with exception being some of the young ones.

Mixed bag around my house in S. IL. Have found a few far as a month back, seen fresh rubs two wks back and a buck with a head full of horns couple a days ago. I definitely will be hunting him next season.

Shedrock

I have seen some big mulies with both or just one antler the last few days.

I have heard that the better nutrition a buck has, the longer he'll keep his antlers.  :dunno:

The elk here don't start shedding good until April 1st. I have them with both antlers in the middle of April yet.

BuckyT I went out today and walked the trail they were using and found no antlers but two very small scrapes. About the size of a turkey platter. They were fresh as it rained here yesterday andthe dirt was not packed.

Keefer

Ours have dropped and new ones are on and just lost thier velvet already...  :biglaugh:

Killdeer

Keefer's been into the archery cement again.   "[dntthnk]"

I saw a buck running some does around last Friday, and I also found a small scrape. He gave up and went off on his lonies, as the does wouldn't stand for it.     :D

Killdeer
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
