I have a free roaming, ranging mind -- sometimes it reports back to me...

Way to go Steve, from your old fellow lol brother.  Gary told me all about it and I'm happy for you.

Awesome bull! A mighty fine achievment for a guys first trade kill! Where does one go from there?

Steve, curious to know, did you use the services of a guide or was this a do it yourself hunt? If you used a guide would you PM me a contact number or info as I have been looking for a good guy in Arizona. Thanks.

Congrats again Steve. You'll have to bring that rack to the MBH banquet this May to show off in person.

I hope Steve posts his story here sometime that I got to preview before it went to our State bow hunting organization magazine. It was a very informative and well written article on an out of state, "do-it-yourself" hunt.

WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS, STEVE!!!!!!!!
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"

swampbuck

WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS,is right!! I missed this one too
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

Hunt It--this was a DIY hunt.  I had hunted turkeys in the same unit a few years back so I had some familiarity with the area.  We did luck out though as the fellow we rented the cabin from was a die hard elk hunter and helped us learn a lot more about the area real quick.  He even went out with us a the first couple days to get his "fix".

That is a dandy, sure is a great feeling to bag a big bull with trad gear.  Congrats.

Geez Steve, thats an awesome bull. Being Im in full time prep mode for this elk season, this reeally stokes the fire.

My wife accused me of being obsessed with elk. Really? me?

I have just a little bit of gear to finalize things for this fall, and the truck leaves MI Aug 22nd.

Not a better feeling in the world than being deep in elk country, and hearing that first bugle.
...stood alone on a montaintop, starin out at a great divide, I could go east, I could go West, it was all up to me to decide, just then I saw a young hawk flyin and my soul began to rise......

Holy smoke Steve.  Where did you find this?  What a great memory.  Good luck to all the elk hunters, especially you on your retirement trip John

This is one of my favorite pictures from that trip:

They delivered the crate on a semi!  I just got back from the Daddy/Daughter dance with the little girl in there who is now almost 12       Where does the time go?

This is how he ended up in the house:

And this is one of my momentos, scrimshawd by my good friend Marv Clyncke:

He only had one Ivory.  I've meant for a long time to get a ring made, but it just sits in the drawer.  I need to get on that.

Steve there aren't anymore bulls like that here   ;)  That is such a great bull!
