I left 2 stands under a pine tree during the off season   :knothead:   Now, both stands are COVERED in sap!
Anyone know any tricks to get it off fast?

Alcohol will dissolve pine pitch. I make pitch varnish for sealing sinew wraps by dissolving hard, brittle pitch in alcohol.

WD40 works wonders for getting it out of raccoon fur. (last time I set a trap near a sapling pine)

Use carb cleaner, it dissolves it fast

Alcohol dissipates with little or no residual smell.

Butter, margarine, or even mayonnaise works great on pitch.... Barbecue briquet fluid is the mildest solvent you can use and not remove paint.

I used the hand sanitizer stuff to get it off my hands several times this year while elk hunting, I think mineral spirits or alcohol would be better choice for what your attempting but thought I'd share my find about the hand sanitizer!

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

I'm going to start with a paint scraper and move to turpentine for the cleanup....

"Goof off" works great. It stinks a little though. It evaporates within an hour and the smell is gone.

Alcohol. Cheap, stink free, safe and very effective.

It's hard to imagine 1 tree could produce this much sap in a few months. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's like some pored sap out of a 5 gallon bucket down my stands...
Goof off didn't do anything.  I'll probably have to remover everything all the way down to the bare aluminum and paint the stands.  Thanks for the help.

Maybe boiling water will lift it off? Worth a shot before you strip it all down.
