I have some cool old leather sample I might try after the one that came with it wears out what do you recommend for adhesive?
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

I use beavertail for my rests. Ken

Plain old rubber cement works really well. The trick is coat the leather and the bow, then let it dry BEFORE pressing the pieces together. Really easy to peel off when you need to change rests without damaging the bow.

I have two recurves with leather rests, two recurves with Bear hair rests, and an R/D longbow with Velcro.  I find them all to work great.  All my recurves are older models with flat shelves.  On one, I cut two long skinny pieces of about 8-9 oz leather, then used an xacto knife to taper them down on either end and glued them together on the shelf.  Made a nice little radius like you see on newer bows.  I topped that with a thin piece of soft black leather (like you'd use on a bikers vest) with the back side up.  Very quiet.  Velcro is definitely the easiest to install and the cheapest.

I usually use what the Boyer puts on the bow.  Most do have velcro
