That is cool as heck Izzy.  (not the flat tire)

Keep at it Jeff, you will never regret not wounding a deer. I know, I know, a double negative lol. Good luck!

Saw one small, yearling doe today just as the rain was letting up. I don't usually hunt the rain but I was itching to see some rutting action and probably would have sat the tree with squirrel arrows just to be out there.

Seems strange to look for bucks to kill a doe but by golly, thats what Im doing until 11/21.

1/4 away

Had 3 doe and a yearling come out of a swamp behind and down wind of me. They browsed about 25 yards behind me for a few minutes on the acorn flat my stand is on then up went ones tail and they all hightailed it back into the swamp.

Finally saw some action. Just past daybreak I saw two does, and at 9:00, I saw  big bodied 8 or 10 point that a buddy pushed toward me.Then when I climbed down, I saw another buck.
Unfortunately all were between 50 and 75 yards behind me on posted land.
Do you think they learned to read posted signs? LOL.

Glad you are finally seeing some deer Ken.

If what you are saying is True, its time to even the game and put posted signs on the other side of the tree and level the playing field.   :readit:

This has been a really slow season for me, few sightings which is pretty unusual> I havw to think it's the warm weather----thoughts?

I'd say, I've seen more movement early on in mid October, although I have only weekends to hunt. I haven't been out since Saturday morning, and even then the only deer that I saw was the small 6 I passed on. There's s cold front moving in today into tomorrow. Hopefully that'll jump start things.

Hope this week is good.  I have the whole next week off to try to put more meat in the freezer.  Good luck to all out there.

Thanks Matt!  You Too,

as you already know, I saw 5 this morning..... Hunters that is lol. Must be a  good spot      :deadhorse:

Its a breezy day but I am going to the spot I found a  few weeks back until dark, just letting the dogs out then its back to the woods.

Good luck Sean.  For me its been feast or Famine, I think you just have to be out when they are moving. Trying to find and learn a new spot has been proving challenging for me.

Wow, Great Rub Sean.

I saw a yearling at 4 pm. He was a little button buck at 25y yards.  I had no shot.  Then I saw a big doe at dark at about 80 yards cruising.

Tomorrow morning will be magical to be in the woods. I think it will be one of those mornings hunters live for..... I hope.....       I cant wait to get back out there...

Yeah Charlie, the wind is finally settling down and I'll be out too.

Last time out I had a 9 or 10 pt. hangin' around for a bout an hour.Watched him bed down twice before he headed down towards the creek.Had a couple fawns right under the stand but the does never came in close enough for a shot.

Seeing lots of turkeys, too.Hope they're still around in the Spring.

Kopper1013

Finally got it done this morning, grunted a small 4pt up but he circled down wind a decided he better leave a little while late this guy Walked up to 6 yards I was in my ghost blind and gillie suit he took a look a decide to turn around and get back a little I drew as he started walking away and he turned broadside at 12 yards and caught me finishing my draw. Unfortunately for him he took to long to study whatever movement he saw and I dropped the string. Shot looked great and I was pumped when I saw the arrow enter but then it abruptly stopped. He lunged forward and collapsed and started doing the broken spin circles I wait a minute cause I still though the shot was perfect but then went and finished thing the autopsy will tell more

At pic of what he could see before I shot note I was seated against the big tree on my torges seat...love that thing

A pic from straight on my ghost blind

Same spot but blind removed

Anyway congrats to all of you guys so far and if you haven't scored yet keep at it, it ain't over till it's over.

Way to go Greg

I've been trying to hunt more from the ground this year from natural blinds. A guy at my club showed me his ghost blind and I have to say while I initially thought it was a gimmick it's really pretty neat. I may have to bite the bullet on one.

Thanks this is the Same blind last Year. By the way this is my first trad deer from the ground and it was awesome!!!

They are really nice only problem is they only cover about 90 degrees so you gotta brush in the sides some, and I leave the direction my wind is blowing  open cause chances are if the deer get there or come from there they are gone anyways. I always put some branches in from th achieve this effect but it doesn't have to be many
