arrow question

I am shooting a 39# long bow 25.5 draw. Arrow is 27" valley of nock to bop. Bow is cut 1/8 past center. When I release, the arrow kicks nock right one time then straightens right out hitting the target straight. This is at 20 yds. How do I get rid of the right hand kick? I am shooting pocs with 125 up front.

What arrow are you shooting? Cut that short and with 125 grain up front you might be stiff at 39 pounds.

Nock fit to string?

Do you think you might be plucking the string upon release?

Are you shooting three-fletch with cock feather out?

Is the weight of the bow 39# at your 25.5 draw length, or at 28 inches?  What spine are your current arrows? What's your brace height?

A brace height that's too low can cause the arrow to kick off of the riser shefl-sideplate, but that is usually seen as a flip to the left. You may not be seeing the initial flip.  If it flips one way, it has to flip back the other way to straighten itself.

A spine that's too stiff can also bounce off the side plate, but again, the initial flip seen is likely to be to the left. A flip to the right would suggest a spine that's too weak.  The shaft is actually flexing around the riser too soon and correcting as it passes the riser.

Given the stats you provided, assuming 39#@25.5 inches, and also assuming it's a high performance bow that has a low stretch string, and, of course, cut 1/8-inch past center, woodies in the 45-50# range should work. Of course, this only speaks to the potential mechanical problem.  Bad form could be causing it just as easily.

bow is 39 @ 25.5. Form is probably not perfect but I have another bow same specs at 46# @ 25.5 that I am shooting the same arrow length with 45/50spine with 145 up front and it shoots as near perfect as you could want.

Hmmmmm.  If you're getting good arrow flite with 45-50# spine out of a 46# bow, they might be too heavy for the 39# bow.  Have anything lighter you can try?  Also, did you check the brace height?

Brace height seems to be the best on these bows at 7 to 7.250. going to try some 35/40 spine and see if that helps.

A few pounds and a small difference in centershot can show very different results.  The weight difference alone is 7#.  In my case I have same limbs but weight differs by 9#.  Lighter limbs take .500 while the heavier set takes .400.  Each at 29" with 125 heads.

so I bought some 35/40 spine shafts and made up a couple. Ended up at 27" bov to bop and it works great. Thanks for all the help.

If ya try goldtip 15/35 cut at 27  1/4 with 100 grain points,I think you will  be hitting dead center.They look as good as wood when ya take the writting off,and all match up. Might have to play with the nocking point.  Good shooting...
