Reflective Wraps

Just wondering if any body is using Reflective traffic tape as arrows wraps. The kind you can buy at the auto store. I have tried a few times but Im having trouble with the seam. I guess the tape is to thick. Is there a trick that some are using to make sure everything stays put. Has anybody tried any other kind of reflective material as a wrap?

I used my heat gun on the last batch I did and everything seemed good. But yesterday I pulled out a few arrows to practice and the wraps were peeling off at the seam.

look on the big auction site and type in white reflective arrow wraps.  $5/dozen tyd.  can't beat  that.

I put a set together for my wife using these reflective white ones that I bought at 3Rivers.     Very pleased witht the result and they were easy to install.

We have One Stringer reflective wraps in stock.  Do it yourself is always fun but in this case probably the most sensible solution.

I just bought 50 yards of 1.25" automotive reflective tape off amazon for $25.  It's all I've used in the past and has always worked very well.

The reflective wraps tend to be thick and can add enough weight to the rear of your arrow to change it's dynamic spine.  So, be sure to tune with the wraps in place.

Thanks Guys, I love the automotive stuff but its the seams that get me frustrated. Are any of you using additional glue or tape? Maybe I used a bad batch of tape (harbor freight).

I've used that style of tape, Amicus, but only a 1" wide strip.  If it overlaps itself, it doesn't seem to stick.  I've had decent luck by using the back of a knife blade or my fingernail to get the edges tight together with no overlap and then trim any excess with a razorblade.

I like the 3m stuff off the big auction site or in a pinch the stuff from Walmart but it has to be trimmed in length and width.

I used the Walmart stuff but only a 2" band, not a whole wrap.

I do as reddogge does, but I use a 1/2 to 3/4 wide band just in front of the nock. the automotive DOT approved stuff works great.

Thanks everyone. Will try using some better tape. I found that with a little heat the tape gets really pliable and sticky it seemed to help. Maybe that's hurting me?

I picked up a sheet of duck tape, reflective material to put on my grand daughters arrows.  thought she would get a kick out of them.  Install the wrap one day and they lifted at the seem the next day.  Not sure what that is all about.  So they didn't get fletched.

I do what red dog does just a small band at the nock end of the arrow and maybe a smalle one in front of the feathers

The experience I had with them was mixed.  They were great for visibility but a real pain to remove.  None came off the shaft "clean" like a regular vinyl wrap.  I went to just using a strip between the tail of the feather and the nock.

I've tried them, they seem very brittle and come apart easily.  I will stick with just white.

Just my experience with several brands and home made versions.
