Killed my first bird with my recurve this year.  Here's the tail mount I just finished. My wife's not fond of the skull but I thought it was cool.

Love God, Love your neighbor.

Never seen one done up like that with the skull, I like it. Congrats on your recurve bird.

Where's the spurs that's the trophy on a big bird. LOL

The skull added I never saw that before either, kinda gives it a different dimension to things.

I like it too.

RAU

I love it! Never saw one with skull, very cool!

Ryman Cat mentioned the spurs. When I started turkey hunting, and after I'd killed enough birds to do it, I made a necklace out of them.

I cut the leg off just a little above and below each spur, poke the marrow out with a nail, let them dry for a few days, and then paint them with clear fingernail polish. I threaded them on a rawhide thong with a wooden bead in between each, and a bigger/longer bead at the very bottom, and tie the ends together. A manly necklace, if you ever saw one.

I still wear one for "luck" when I'm hunting. The one I wear today are from birds that have special meaning to me.

I've seen some that had the scales pulled off the leg bone before drying, and i think i like them better that way.

Just an idea. There are lots of ways of preserving them.

Congrats again on your bird.

The mount looks great! How about a picture of your necklace, it sounds cool.

I like the skull, look's real good.

Here ya go Denny. I apologise for the lousy pictures. They were taken indoors, with a cheap flip phone. It's raining here, or I'd have gone out in the sun where I had better light.

Sorry, I thought I had this picture business figured out. It's driving me nuts, I'll try again later.
