I have a big shot elk glove and Ive been shooting it for a year.  The nylon has grooves worn so deep that now upon release I feel like my string is catching and getting thrown into my nose.  I shot some of my thinner gloves and had no problems with the string getting thrown off by the deep grooves and hitting my nose because my thinner gloves have no grooves.  I just ordered a safari tough 3 under tab.  I have never shot with a tab but it seems that they take longer to wear out and can accommodate a deeper hook.  Has anyone else had this issue with the nylon on the fingers getting deep deep grooves and causing problems?  I love the glove but if I could change 2 things it would be that the nylon would last longer and I wish the finger stalls came up slightly higher more toward the 2nd knuckle.

I have the big shot in elk and shot it for years. Never had any problem with it. I would suggest you call John at American Leathers and discuss it with him. Pictures would be good too.

Mine took a couple of years to reach the point that yours has. When it did I packed it up and sent back to American Leathers and had the tips replaced... nominal fee.

I've since switched to the crossover glove and just love it. I'm currently testing a Kangaroo model for John that shows a lot of promise. I'll let everyone know how that turns out after I've shot it a while.

I shot tabs forever until three years ago.  I bought an Elk Big Shot and really liked it until it got soft....then had issues such as yours.  I think the big shot would be a good glove for an occasional shooter pulling light poundage but for me it was a bust.

In comes the American Leathers Crossover.  Much more robust and the inserts take a good pull over a longer frequency of shootings without developing the "groove" but it will (and did) happen eventually. At that point I was a daily shooter for about a year or more.  The leather was not an issue but the inserts did take a set.

I had a talk with John at American Leathers and asked him to make another glove with a stiffer insert...they did and it was a marvel until I had to drop 10# in draw due to a shoulder problem.

A good tab works best for me now but if I was pulling in the low 50s and higher, I would still be shooting the Crossover.  Top quality!

I have some wear on my Big shot gloves but I do not use a deep hook. Now that I am shooting my 55# and 60# bows I am not as comfortable with th release. It seems the string stays on the glove. Maybe my imagination. I have since gone to the archers mitt.

I've had my second one for  maybe 10 months same as you it's got a groove in all three fingers I shoot with as deep of hook as the glove will allow. My nylon is looking a bit worn.
However I'm not having any accuracy or nose slapping problems? I do like the glove a lot Ive tried different tabs but always feel I have more control with a glove. (Personal preference).
I do notice on mine even since I got it the elk hide on my fingers looks crumbly I keep the glove conditioned. So I'm not to happy with that. I don't feel the price reflects the quality there. that and the Velcro strap seems  to stretch easily too.  I want to try a crossover in hopes for a longer lasting glove with less wear or grooving on the fingers.
Other than that it's an awesome glove.

I have shot a cross over for years.
It performs amazingly

Been using them for years. When the nylon gets worn the release gets smoother. I use Neats Glove oil to keep the leather soft.  When mine gets a bit stiff I add a dab of oil and work the leather loose.

I have a Big Shot Elk I have been shooting for at least 5 years, no problem. I also have a Big Shot Bison that is going on 6 years with no problems.
