15 yards

At first my arrows were all over the place, but then I was able to bring them in a little:

I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Am really enjoying your jumping into this fine sport and hope it is a hobby you will continue with. If you do stick with it your son will be sure to follow also. Memories will be made.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Thank you everyone for the encouragement.  You don't know how much it means...

I am pretty sure I will stick with it.  Nothing else has given me this much joy. I have 3 boys-14, 9, and 6.  They are already showing an interest.

Excited about the 25th-I will be going to the ALZ shoot in Culloden, GA.  Don't know if I will be able to go to Tannenhill park, though.  That is a 3 hour drive.

Take your time and enjoy yourself. You are doing well and don't sweat the occasional miss or broken arrow.
(An advantage of shooting cedar arrows is that when you break one it smells nice..)   ;)
Shooting a bow instinctively takes practice and time to acquire the muscle memory that is a big part of the skill set.

Lady Frost

I shot the bow last night until my arm almost gave out.  I am so addicted!

Can't wait to go stump shooting!

George (Ryals) at the range showed me what a sight was and exactly how it worked-I told him I will pass on it.  I want to do this on my own without anything extra.

Yep. You're hooked. And you're doing it from the right (I mean correct) side too.    :clapper:

Yes, you are doing just fine. Your enthusiasm is very contagious, even for those of us who have been doing this for a long while. I hope to meet you at Culloden this weekend.

I don't know if anyone has told you but you are only given so many bullseyes, so don't use them up on practic :-)  Have fun and enjoy.

Lady Frost

I am still planning on it Sam.  Getting my vehicle ready for the drive.  :D

Thank you Rob!!!!
Thanks everyone, every response has just encouraged me so much!  I had soooo much fun at the 3D shoot in Culloden!!! So many times I had to stop and breathe through the adrenaline rush!
I went through the course twice, lost one arrow, and missed a few targets, but these were my best:

This one was my favorite, we shot at the turkey through a bush:

In this one, the arrow I am touching is mine, the other 2 belong to Barry (BWD on here), and Jeff from TBG:

Thanks to Jeff and Dan from TBG who loaned my boys some bows and arrows, they can now join me!!  I am so grateful!!!!!

I can't wait, I hope I can go to the ones in Ranger, GA and Gainesville, GA.  If I am really lucky I can go to Tannenhill Park.
