I wish you the best of luck Ron, I hope you have a great time. Don't forget to take some flu flu's with you for the skeeters.    ;)

That's a sweet looking bow too, by the way.

Ron, you're in for the time of your life! Did four Bear Quests in a row and there's nothing better. Tom does an unbelievable job of making this hunt special. When I went to my first one Sweet Wife just didn't understand, as she said "you're going to drive 18 hours, by yourself, to a place you've never been to before and spend a week with a bunch of people you've never met". My answer was yes. I'm envious and happy for you at the same time, wish I could be there with you and all the guys but I have to keep the peace at home. Good luck and you'll be back, the best time you'll ever have with a bow in your hand and the added bonus is you'll make lifelong friends that enjoy the same things you do.

Ron I know you like them close but you better start practicing extremely close from the sound of it.
Relax,

I can vouch for the close and low. I never hunted from a stand that I couldn't reach up and touch standing on the ground and some are rediculously close to the bait, probably 6-8 yards max. I think the last night I hunted a stand that couldn't have been 5 yards, maybe 4.
Really fun trip and a great way to spend a week.

Yellow Dog

Yup, up close and personal. I hung this camera on the tree the stand was in and we picked up this big boy coming in towards the end of the week. Kent spent his last night on stand there and we thought for sure he was going to get him. About an five yard shot six foot up. That's a five gallon bucket next to him.

Beautiful bow Ron. I'm getting the itch too.  I'm on first week as well and this will be my first bear hunt.

Taking the Holcomb 59er as my go-to, but I wonder if a second bow for a back up is a good idea?

Yes Manny, I think I'm driving but nothing has been cast in stone yet. There may be an airport pick up involved in the plan but not sure yet.
