Hey everybody my names Mike, I was born and raised here on eastern Long Island. Spent most of my life fishing with either a fly or a plug and have always loved being outside. Not being from a hunting family I have no hunting or archery experience, but I picked up a recuvre this fall and am obsessed now just like the fly fishing. Been shooting everyday an plan on hunting for the first time this year for whitetail and turkey with my recurve or long bow. And I must say this is one of the polite and knowledgable forums I've ever come across!!!!
I shoot a Martin hunter 50#@28 and a Martin savannah stealth 40#@28, my draw length is 30.5". Been really favoring the longbow recently so smooth to draw and shoot. I just purchased the savannah stealth about a month again new and am starting to get concerned. New out of the box the bow had rough upper nock grove (which I sanded smooth), a tiny pin hole in the lower nock and more importantly what appeared to be a crack in the riser on the handle. I though it was a defect in the finish but I don't know if I'm seeing things or what but the crack might be getting larger. I can run my nail over it and feel it but it's been like that since I first received it.
Anyway I can easily return the bow and ask for a new one I believe but I thought I'd ask the very knowledgable members on the site. I've been watching it since I first unbox it but now I measured it to make sure it isn't growing in size.
Thanks, Mike
