Toothbrush arrow rest!

Took me 3 tries to get an acceptable result (and some muttered curse words) but I'm finally satisfied with the look of my toothbrush arrow rest! My hat is off to Mr. Mark Kimber of Huntsman Bows; he obviously has gotten a lot of practice in creating these arrow rests in order to make them come out so nice.

The shooting characteristics are great and I really like the sight picture off the rest! And now, the rest looks like it belongs on the bow    . Still waiting for the Shoe Goo to cure completely, hence why you'll be able to see some dried glue streaks on the riser.

I have been intrigued by these. Looks Great. Perhaps you should use a brush with the Blue line so you know when to replace lol.

Been using "Brush rests" or Para rests for years. I never thought about making my own. I may try this for Bear Mag C riser to replace the orginal.

There were moments that I considered just opting for the Para rest but I'm glad I stuck with it. The 45 degree angle that the bristles create makes it very difficult for the arrow to get bumped off the rest when nocked.

The riser is a 15" ILF riser made by Andy at Bezaleel Bow Works. It is ziricote with two phenolic strips. The limbs are medium Centaur ILF limbs, 67lbs @ 27" draw, making for a 58" bow in total length. Perfect for my 5'6" frame. And yes, I have a big smile on my face every time I shoot this bow

Where do you find the thin leather to cover the brush?? I have
never been able to find leather as thin as Mark uses. In
my honest opinion I own 2 of Marks huntsman bows and these rest are bullet proof and the best rest I have used, but finding the thin leather and getting it to look like Mark's...does might take some practice... Wished I could have all my bows with this brush rest installed.....

I was trying to get some kangaroo leather but couldn't source any that was reasonably priced. So I ended up finding a purveyor on Etsy who sells clothing scraps--ended up ordering the thinnest leather they had. Once I got the leather, I scraped off a lot of the back to thin the material down.

Even now, if I can find some kangaroo leather scraps, I would re-do the project. These rests do rock! I just wish Mark Kimber could do it for me. I don't know how he makes them come out looking so good...

gets me thinking,,,,, I don't use these at all but if I did has anyone tried cutting a section out of a shoe shine brush,, they already have a wood base that can be cut lengthwise then angle in the ends so the wood fades back tight to the riser and I know they come in different softness's and you can trim the hairs down.......I would think they would be tougher too designed to brush leather shoes all day.

I seen tooth brush rests back in the early 70s they used a tooth brush with the handle cut off and glued it right to the shelf with the bristles pointing up, worked great!
