My bro Shane alias "Supercracker" has hunted there a number of times and knows it.  Been meaning to join him there someday when I have a life again LoL

How was Shane's luck hunting there?

I believe he's stuck some swine there over the years, not sure if he's had much time in the past year or not.  I need to text him tomorrow and get an update.

I drove down and hunted Altamaha several years ago. There was a ton of hunting pressure. A group of six or so guys got there the day we did and camped. They were good guys. Unfortunately,a group of drunks came in the second day and camped, blasting music and making a racket. Finally had to go talk to them. Another group from Maryland was pulling in as we left
Saw tons of sign. Saw one hog, which I killed but it was in very poor shape. Had a broken jaw that was all calcified. He was all skin and bones.
One group we talked to had killed a bunch of hogs with rifles the previous October.
I would go back, simply for the change of scenery and warmer weather, but it would be in October. Otherwise I would pay for access to private land.

I`ve killed several hogs there but walked close to ten miles a day to do it. finally got smart and got a bike. There is a access no vehicle road that goes a shade over 4 miles. every pig I killed was a half mile past that. The front "easy" stuff gets a lot of pressure. The Altamaha River also will have a huge bearing on it. If its flooded you can`t get in.
I hunted a wma last week up river and walked in water more than not. Clayhole swamp is not that good. I woukld recommend an out of towner to go to fort stewart. RC

I'm not a GA boy but agree with RC - there is better hog hunting at The Fort, as these guys prove
