What do you shoot best? Longbow or recurve.

Longbow for me!  I started Trad with a recurve. It was nice, but then I shot a longbow and was blown away by the stability of those narrow deep core limbs.  Just seemed to be much more forgiving on the shot and just seemed to hit where I was looking like magic.  I recently tried a recurve again.  Had it for about a month and then sold it and went running back to my Longbows.

When I began thinking about going trad several years ago, I was looking at a Montana Longbow. When I decided a month ago to make the switch, I got a Samick Sage, it has been great to shoot. But I still have my eye on that Bear Montana...Would like to shoot one at some point. I don't know how I would shoot it compared to the Sage..

VA, I don't care about tradition at all.  Everybody else can go away, for all I care ( OK, be nice).  I don't do things because it is cool.  Not any more at least.

I have been at this long enough, and soul searched deeply enough to know. . .I feel better when I carry and shoot a longbow.  Its a feeling deep inside me.  It makes me more satisfied when I walk about and shoot arrows that way.  If I myself built the bow and the arrows, it is one step even closer to nirvana.

My recurve is awesome.  One of the best out there (in my puny mind).  But it isn't a long bow.

To me they are both very traditional, recurves go back to the Old testament and to ancient Egypt and Asia before that. Longbows, well forever ago.

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I love shooting my HH but I shoot my Robertson Fatal stik "Majik" the best by far. Followed by aCary Bow tuktu TX.

Always 5' shorter than needed.   :D

I shoot a heavy ILF riser best. You can have both longbow and recurve limbs. But nothing beats a nice one piece longbow for pleasure.   :archer2:

I shoot higher 3-D scores with a recurve but use a longbow for my hunting and shooting enjoyment.

The bow you put in your hand the most is likely the bow you'll shoot the best...it's really all about repetition.

do longbows tend to draw smoother? Are they more quiet? easier/harder to tune?

It has been so long since I shot the recurves, I don't know if I could hit anything with them or not. So, I would have to say longbow.

I shoot both about the same...but like others have said my choice is the longbow.  It just feels right.  I prefer narrow limbs and light weight in the hand.

I would've said longbow until 4 months ago.... But then I bought a tall tines recurve!

I enjoy them both but I can shoot my recurves the best. I think for me it's the grip. I can "point" a recurve where it needs to go and the string likes to beat on me with my longbow....(operator error I'm sure) , but that being said I've always wanted to try some of the faster longbows, or the hybrid bows.

Shoot both and some days can't shoot either worth a lick. Like to shoot both and will keep a 'curve and hybrid until I can't shoot anymore which is long time from now I hope.

So far, I shoot my Blacktail recurve the best, but I keep getting drawn to a longbow.  We will see I am trying out a new longbow that is showing promise.

Generally recurve, but I do enjoy my single longbow.
