Wow...5 yards...that's intense!  Great story, thanks for sharing.  Get back out there and get one of those bad boys!

Sounds like fun. You are a guy with nerves of steel! Bear are one thing to be close to on the ground,  but a pack of wolves? Good to see you posting Ry!
I'm with Steadman on this one. Its easy to not miss on something that won't eat you! Hold your head high, clean your brithces and get back after them Brother. Keep us posted! Awsome stuff!

Wow that had to be cool. Keep at it. Sounds like your slipping down a path of no return hunting the hunters.
You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Britches have been cleaned and I'm ready to go again. I think the wolves were quite surprised to not find a rabbit but rather a scrawny middle aged guy randomly throwing sticks in their direction.

Funny that the danger of the incident didn't cross my mind once as I was more trying to be the hunter than them... hope I can keep it that way. I'll at least bring the pepper spray next time..

Thanks for sharing, what an experience!!

I can't top TJ's response, so I won't even try.

Sounds like an awesome adventure to me, and one that very few will experience themselves. Some of my favorite memories afield have a miss or two in them. Good luck!

Well done Ryan. The emotions of the hunt are part of the stark, the wait, and the shot. Put it on 'em.

Next time Ryan, the wolf wont be so lucky.  Getting game that close that fast will challenge even the most experience archer to concentrate on a  spot!

I bet your adrenaline was pumping in high gear.

Man o man. I love the story. Hate you missed. No doubt you used this as a learning experience, so those wolves better watch out. That's the great thing about predator calling it can be fast and furious. I absolutely can not imagine being that close to that many wolves. Be safe! Thanks for sharing.

Wow buddy! That's a tremendous opportunity and I can understand what your feeling after missing! Here's hoping you get another rare chance like that

stalkin4elk

Bummer on the miss. That is a rare shot opportunity. Check the latest FUR FISH GAME for a great article on wolf calling. Hope you get another chance.

twitchstick

What an experience! You'll get them next time

This may be one of the best wolf hunting stories in modern times.  It's pretty remarkable to say the least!

Friend

A most memorable encounter.

Will be looking forward to reading of your next.

Well taking a wolf with a stickbow is on my bucket list but with a pack I'd be more inclined to think volume and go with a fast rifle.  With wolves, I believe in the stack em up technique.
