I shoot carbon.  Durability is the biggest reason.  Second would be the ability to change point weight.

All I shoot are wood with the exception of bow fishing then it is a solid fiberglass shaft.
I prefer hardwood shafts; Ash, Hickory, Maple, etc. I have a few sets of arrows in Douglas Fir and Spruce and just a few assorted arrows in Cedar. I also have a few that are built out of Dogwood shoots that have stone points on them. The hardwood shafts are nice and heavy and more durable than anything else I have ever shot. Never had much issue in keeping them straight, just a little bit of tweaking every now and then.

I shoot wood and aluminum. My current hunting bow uses woodies. I shoot wood cuz I just like them. I shoot aluminum because they are cheaper than carbons and I never have to worry about one blowing up into a million little fragments.

I shoot aluminum on my recurves because my 2219's are almost indestructable. They seldom bend but if they do the arrow straightener will fix it quickly. Wood for longbow just because, lol. Anything else in a longbow just wouldn't seem right.

Ever since I shot a D shaped longbow Silence has been my personal primary requirement for a bow.
I switched to wood shafts because they're quiet. Not just on the shot but also dragging through the woods. I like carbons for their versatility but wood shafts with deltas on the end that I can sharpen with a file at the end of the day by the fire satisfies me something deep.

I am dq'd once again. Vintage Micro Flite fiberglass shafts with new fletching. Almost as quiet as wood, more durable than aluminum, more mass than carbon, and more funky than all three of the choices offered.

Carbon currently, mainly because that is what I thought would be most durable as I started to learn shooting traditional 2 years ago. Now that I have developed decent form and not missing targets as much I think some woodies may be in my future this winter.

Carbon for durability and wood for nostalgia............but I really love "good" wood.

Carbon only because they take less time which has been at a premium for a few years.

May have some time freed up now and have a doz surewoods from Tim At Braveheart I gotta make up.

Also a pile of real turkey feathers from some other buds, Steve Grice being one of them!!

Beman Centershot carbon arrows. I shoot them for durability, slim design & they are straight. I feel as if they also recover quickly out of the bow at shorter distances and provide better penetration on animals.
