I just got in two dozen Rose city POC shafts.  I had them finished with a clear sealer.  Can I use Fletch tie platinum on the sealer.  A message from Rose city said they did not know if it would work they use their flight glue or duco.If that is the case, does that mean that I can not use Fletch lac for the crowns?

McDave

I've always used Duco for all my fletching on wood arrows. I don't know if it is compatible with fletch lac or not, but there are plenty of crown dips you can get that it is compatible with, probably a lot less expensive than fletch lac.  It just works really well on wood arrows, whereas platinum has given iffy results lately on anything other than carbon.

I've used Duco on wood arrow finished with a polyurethane.I use Platinum Fletch Tite on a lacquer finish, gasket lacquer or Bohning finishes.

Fletch Tite works best on lacquer, wraps, and bare aluminum. Duco works on poly and Profin. Also any paint worth using costs as much as Fletch Lac. Just pick a a single line, find the glue that is compatible, and don't switch once you find what works.

Oh and while I'm thinking about it. Platinum takes 48 hrs to cure to full strength without agitation. I think alot of complaints are from people who shot their arrows next day.

Is that Gasket Laq.? I use duco for fletching with GL. Not sure what to use for cresting as I clear dip over the whole arrow after I crest.

capt eddie

I am not sure if it is gasket laq.  Rose city just calls it a clear sealer.

I would contact the (Rose City) and see if you can find out if the clear is oil based or water based or?
If memory serves me correctly fletch laq does not like to (go over) other finishes. But I do know you can put a water based poly over Fletch Laq. because they sell it in little bottles to put over your cresting.

Fletch Tite is only compatible with Fletch Lac or bare shafts. It does NOT work with other clear finishes. I do believe Rose City uses gasket lacquer.

Yes Rose City uses gasket lacquer.  And Duco is not in my Wally world.  I wonder if Bass pro would have some?

M60gunner

If Bass pro doesn't have the glue try the big box home stores. Also try craft stores like Michaels. Home Depot and Lowes have websites, looking there could save you some foot steps and time.

Generally Ace Hardwares carry Duco. It caused quite a stir when Walmart stopped carrying Duco but you won't find it there anywhere.

I found Duco at the Ace store today.  It said Model glue.  in a little blue tube.  Is that the right stuff.  Said for uses on cars, planes helicopter and boats.  But not arrows????

They have Duco multipurpose household glue, which is what you want, the green tube, on Amazon for $2.99/tube.  It is at 3 Rivers for $3.45/tube.  I'm almost embarrassed to buy it at that price, but I suppose they know what they're doing.  Maybe that's why Walmart stopped carrying it, not enough profit in it.

I did not know duco was made for model airplanes. You want the stuff in the green/yellow tube. If you can wait I would go with McDave's suggestion. I see they sell in multi packs which is a good way to go. Avoids those extra trips trying to locate it again.

I started using fletching tape on all different types of arrows. Tape works great and it's really fast.
