The Howard Hill is so simple to sharpen, I ordered a dozen!

Found a fool proof way to put a great edge on the Howard Hill broadhead. I am so impressed, I ordered a dozen of them today from Craig.

I love my Hill style bows and wood arrows but have been reluctant to try Hill or Simmons broadheads because of all the posts about how hard they are to sharpen. I have some Ribteks and Ace but may try some Hills if you can convince me that they are easy to sharpen.

They are supposed not to windplane at all. I don't know if that is true. I also read that its best just to file them and not try to sharpen them with a grinder for razor blade sharpness.

I have Simmons treesharks and find them go be very easy go sharpen.

All you need is a diamond rod sharpener (the retractable pocket model is what I use) and a butchers steel.

Takes about 3-5 min a head.

Like many of you I have tried and tried to get the Hill head sharp. Then I did it as it is recommended and used it on a Doe with great results. but still takes time, rather take that time to hunt, and use ace, zwickey, simmons. I am waiting like you all to find out the magical touch.

Sorry for the delay. I've been down with a cold.
Rada sharpener. 8 times through the wheels and you are done. Honestly sharp and good enough to kill game in my opinion. We've all been convinced that the heads must shave hair and these will but they won't plow hair as they say. I'm done looking for an easier or better way.

I don't have any HHA heads at the house but I do have Simmons. I can do a vid on the concave specific if anyone wants me to.
I might order some HH Heads just to make a vid

I don't like the rada for the simmons but that is just me. I know simmons sells it. It really is easy with the hill heads.

Is the rada sharpener one of those with layered wheels of hard steel that form a V & you pull the broadhead through it?

Some heads seem more responsive to the wheelie sharpener than others, glad you found something that works for you!

Yeah, hard to beat a Rada, but almost any dual wheel sharpener is hard to top.

I like the flight characteristics better with the hill than any other head that I have tried such as zwickey, grizzly, snuffers. Woodsman flew well.

For whitetails and turkeys under 20 yards I don't need anything more. Shot placement and a sharp broadhead are more important to me than a broadhead that can shave my nuts.

Charlie Lamb set me straight with the Hill's so I want to give you a lot of credit. Thanks Charlie.

Watching a nice buck by the house. He's still moving at nighttime according to my game camera but maybe luck will find me Saturday morning.
