Hi all . For years I had a small barrel shaped fawn call . It was split down the long side and you bleu into the side . I had a wood one first and it was great , later I got a plastic one and it was OK . Dos anyone know what I am talking about and if so are they being made today and if so how I can get one ? Thank You Rick

The first is (I believe) simply made by stretching a piece of rubber banding along two pieces of wood or plastic with a hollowed out area in the center.  You blow across the side and you can usually alter the sound pitch by biting down on the wood.  You should try to make your own version.  Experiment and I'll bet you can do it.  You can even use popsicle sticks as the wood pieces, if you sand out the centers just a bit to allow for vibration of the band.

Hot Hap

A guy I used to hunt with would take a large blade of grass and stretch it between his thumbs and blow into his fists.

Those fawn bleats really work well in the early season but be ready for Flossy to come in looking for a fight.
