Jon, the riser wood is the same as yours, dirty boo cores, toasted curley maple venners back and belly. With some type of orange wood in the riser that to my eye gives it kind of an older native look to it. Have been reading J.A. Hunters books on East Africa and the bow reminded me so much of the native pics in the book that I named it "Masai."

James, saw goats every day. Plan is to stay in till I get'er done or run out of arrows. Minimal camp, travel light. Here's a couple at 100 yds.

James my daughter said the fires were really bad around the Medical lake/Spokane area?

The skies have been affected clear out to Iowa from those fires.  If they reach James's stash of balsa wood and particle board lams, I could just as well sell my telescope.
Some fires are good for the forest, but when that brushy regrowth starts burning it can become a serious problem.

Ok. New question. I'm considering buying a Taipan used. It's 68" 49@31. I pull 28", so it should be about 40@28. How does the Taipan zip arrows at 40 lbs?

My taipan is 45-46@ my draw. I shoot. 500 grain woodies from it. I'm a three under shooter and it gives me a point on of 28 yds.  It holds it's own at its weight. The key to it is it's pointability, and smoothness. I'd say it's shooting right in line with any other r/d bow in its weight range , if it's not a souped up model of course . The taipan is not an aggressive r/ d bow .

I wouldn't trade or sell mine for ANYTHING.  I keep batting around the idea of getting one a little heavier but this bow is just dead on accurate and throws and arrow real good.

Shooting 2016s at. 27.5" and 125 up front it's a FLAT FLAT trajectory all the way home.

I've owned a lot of bow and I OWN a lot of Berrys and the taipan is hands down my favorite , closely followed by the Morningstar

I have to check out a taipan when I get a chance but my favorite is the vixen by far I'm very impressed with this bow!

I have a vixen - great bow.  Last time I was up at Jame's shop (jan) I had the chance to shoot a morningstar and a taipan..... I ordered the taipan     I love my vixen but that taipan was awesome.
