I have a Dale Dye bow my father had Dale build him back in 1992 when he was fighting cancer. It is a real work of art and has a special message printed on it for my father. When my father passed the bow came to me.  The bow is so special I have just displayed it in my hunting room.  Well, I am headed to Alaska Moose hunting in September, a dream hunt my father never got to see through, and I need a heavier bow so I have decided to use the Dale Dye bow in remembrance of my father and the hunt he never got to make.  It is a Trails End Good Medicine.  It has two sets of limbs one 57# @ 27 making it a 60in bow and another 58# at 27 making it a 62 inch bow.

Does anyone know what the proper Brace Height should be for the 60" and 62" limbs?

There's a lot that goes in to determining proper brace height, and most bows have no specific setting and generally list a range.  I've owned a few Dale Dyes and recall 7.5" as popular brace.

I suggest putting the brace at 7" and go up from there looking and listening for what your arrow does.  When you get great flight and less noise (if using a properly spined arrow) then you are there. Most likey you will end up at 7.5 - 8.0.

I find these bows easy to tune, especially with that super grip they have.

Good luck...and take lots of pics.

If I remember correctly Dale recommends between 7.5 and 8.5. I have better luck on the lower end. Good luck on your hunt.

Mr. Dye recommends 7.5-8.5.  I have a few Dye bows and they all seem to like 7.75 or around there.  I hope this helps and good luck this fall.  Good medicine for sure on your trip North.

Thanks you to all who gave input...I very much appreciate it!

For those of you who do shoot Mr. Dye's bows, how high is your nock point?

Do you shoot split or three under?  I would start at a 1/2 and see how it shoots then adjust from there.

I nock below and I  have a 58" medicine point and for me 3/8ths is about right. Ron.

i have a 62" Good Medicine braced at 7 7/8", shooting split finger with a nocking point at 9/16".  I don't shoot it that much, it is too pretty to take into the woods for me at this point. It is smooth and zips the arrows out there.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if there is a way I can reach Mr. Dye to speak with him and ask him questions directly about the bow he built for my father?
