Who's Got a Lucky Hat?!?

Just got a pretty sweet radar hat from Jeff at Gray Wolf Woolens. Today was the first day I took it out to the woods and, lo and behold, found a little four point side shed! Now I don't believe in luck necessarily, but I can't help but call this my "lucky hat" now.

Anyone else have a lucky hat? Any stories or pictures?

Not necessarily a hat, but my lovely wife noticed in all my harvest photos I have the same camo on. I didn't believe it till I looked!

Lost mine years ago. Been luckier since.   :dunno:
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

I think hats carry more MOJO than my other gear.

Had one. It's been laying on the bottom of Sowden Lake, Ontario since '82. My first hat. Started hunting with it in '67. The old WWII camo Jones style, loaded with WI. Bowhunter pins. Blew off my head...sunk like a rock.

If I have a lucky hat/cap, I would have to say it is this one I am wearing in the pic. I have had this hat for 28 years. And when the weather turns cold, it is the one I grab to cover my noggin with while out hunting. The fact that I have had it this long, I consider my self lucky in that regards.

I have a lucky hat. It's a Filson Packer that I purchased in 1994. I wear it in just about every outdoor activity except bowhunting. That's because the string of my bow touches the brim of my hat, which I do not like. So, like Tony above, when I'm bowhunting I tend to wear a stocking cap...except mine isn't 28 years old. In my book any cap/hat that old definitely fits the definition of a lucky hat.

Great picture Tony! Thanks for sharing.

Rooselk- I agree- if you can keep the hat for 20+ years- wow- lucky!

Well I 'had' a wool felt Aussie Digger that ended up in the bottom of Pool 8 or 9 back in the late '70's.  The one on my head in this pic is the replacement.  It's been in the same place - on my head - for Elk, Bear, Deer and Moose..........so, I guess you could call it my lucky hat.  Can't even remember the brand but it is fleece and gortex.

The one my wife made me-I've made plenty of finds with it on.  My wife makes the absolute luckiest gear I've ever seen-she's planning to sell it cause it's just that good.  I particularly like the knit boot liners she makes.  Those and my mukluks have made me silent in the woods. Make your own luck there.

I have a merino wool skull cap made by Remington that I've been wearing for more than 30 years.  In warm weather, I sometimes switch to a cotton boonie hat, and in cold weather, I often wear another wool hat over it, but it's been my go to noggin warmer for a long time.  Would have to call it my lucky hat. Of course, I'm also usually wearing it when not so lucky things happen.

I lost my lucky hat 20+ years ago(x-girlfriend revenge) a 6x beaver Stetson. Man I loved that hat and I looked KILLER in it.

Been trying to replace it. Got one of those wired brim Wensel hat's but it's obvious the Wensels sucked all the luck out of it before they sold it to me!

Great pic of you my friend! See you in Cincy!
Time spent alone in the woods puts you closer to God.

"Can't" never accomplished anything.

My lucky hat is the one I choose to put on the day of the hunt. The next morning....if nothing on the meat pole....my lucky hat is usually different....

Still have to make a kill with my TG hat, but as much as I wear it during the season it will happen.

My Stormy Kromer seems to draw deer when I wear it, getting a shot every time is another story.

I had one I bought from a Bear Outfitter in Quebec. Killed my bear the 1st night. Then killed a P&Y buck that same year the 1st hunt of the season.  Another P&Y buck a couple years later.. The hat is to faded from washing over the years now. It looks more white than camo.

Mine is the hat I'm wearing in my profile pic.
Traditional Archery mag hat. I've had it on while walking to my stand and it's always in my pack for warmer days. It's shredded now. Bought it in 2000
I've taken 4 nice 8 pointers with it in my pack, or on my head.
