Some times it's nice to let the Bower have some input on this....
When I ordered my Big Five from HH Archery, I told him I wanted Black Glass Belly and Brown on the Back, Craig ask me what Riser I wanted, I told him do your thing....
Craig went down the street to a Rifle stock maker and picked out a piece of wood that blended in to the Brown glass....
So sometimes let them do there thing and you'll be surprised....

Bubinga looks pretty good with brown glass.

I like the lighter woods like red elm and zebrawood with brown glass.

I just ordered a Whippenstick Inferno with wenge riser, osage accents and brown glass limbs.  It should be stunning!

There is two shades of brown glass being produced today.  For the last several years the brown glass has a slight shade of burgundy to it.  I think it looks best with a riser wood that has a red tone.  I.E bubinga, cocobolo, etc.

Since Bear came out with the reintroduction of the "59 Kodiak, they have Gordens producing a slightly lighter shade of brown for them.  This glass is brown, brown with not reddishness to it.  I think it matches better with a wider range of riser woods such as bolivian rosewood, zebra, bocote, etc.  This glass is available to us little bowyers, not jus Bear.
