Help with 2 pc recurve decision

I want a 2 pc recurve; either a sleeve type or bow bolt.


What would you recommend AND why.  Please don't recommend without a reason. thx, ~ joe

If I were to recommend one, it would be a toelke chinook or Hoots...I have owned both and they have better than average performance in a small package, great grips, and very smooth shooters.  The Hoots I would give the edge to because of how forgiving it was despite its short length.


You may look at the new Wolfer by Robertson...it has a new grip that supposedly helps you naturally cant your bow.

I cannot "recommend" it as I have not shot one...but it seems to be a unique design.

Hard to beat the Toelke T/Ds.  I have 2 Chinooks and ! SS.  All are very well mannered, smooth quiet and fast.  Workmanship is fantastic.  The wait is about a month or so from date of order.

I just tested the Cari-bow T/D Tuktu and it is right up there with the Toelke bows,  Great manners, fast smooth, with a touch more noise than the Toelke's.  

Either wold be a great choise.+

It comes down to which bow fits you best.  The one piece bows shoot just like the two piece bows do.  I have had both the sleeve and the bow bolt options and both are great.

Black widow psr...I draw 27" but use a 60"er...the Toby grip is perfect for me, it's mild and easy to quickly locate and it's deadly quiet for me with the stock string and spider silencers, plus I shoot 3 under from a split tiller.  It's forgiving and very accurate...not to mention widow quality.

The Wolfer is mighty sweet shooting as are the Tolke's.

The Toelke "Chinook" is the only two piece Recurve I have personally shot. I like the grip, fit and finish is perfect as are all the Toelke bows I own.

    I'm sure the "Wolfer" by the Robertson's is also a fine bow, I just do not have any personal experience.

I have to second the widow PSR  the bevel lock sleeve style  works very well and a psr is a fantastic bow I know with a bow bolt you may need a little beefier grip to contain and strengthen the area around the bolt..

If you don't mind 64" my vote is for the Toelke SS.  Drawn a friends a few times and man was that a smooth bow.  Smooth as a 21st Century Longbow (2.5#/inch) is how it felt.  Super low string angle at the tips.  Scott says it shoots awesome too.  I'm betting it could be dubbed a 'recurve Whip' haha.  Another that intrigued me is the Tuktu EX.  I would think you'd get near the smoothness of the Toelke but in a smaller package if you need or want it.  Both are bows on my bow bucket list.
