Thank you Charlie for posting pictures for me. Season starts in 2 days, but will not get to the farm till next week. Will get the new camera pictures then.

What time of the day do you all check your trail cameras?  I hadn't really given this much thought, but on Monday when I went to check mine, I got this...

She was watching me walk in to check my camera, and without this pic, I never would have even known she was there.

After I got all the pictures off the card I created a chart that has picture frequency for each hour of the day.  Not surprising, but deer were present primarily in the morning between 4am and 9am, and then again from 5pm till 8pm.  There were a few pictures scattered at various other times of the day, but most were around daybreak and dusk hours.  I don't know why I didn't think of this before    :knothead: ...  but for now on, I will make every effort possible to go to my camera/stand sites  during the mid-day, when they hopefully aren't there.

I can't believe you were checking your cam at prime time 7:00pm and didn't think you would see deer    :knothead:

If you were walking into a stand or something would be different but dang the first few hours of daylight, midday, and last few hours of the day are never a good time.

If you should be hunting you shouldn't be checking cams!!! Just think of it that way. Live and learn I guess         :D

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

I know, I know... I'm a little slow on the uptake, sometimes!       It was a total amateur move, plus with work and kids, it's hard to find anytime other than early or late in the day to get into the woods.  Like you said... live and learn!

Wouldn't even have considered checking at that time.  If nothing else, hit the cams on a weekend....mid day.  Killing deer with a trad bow is going to be real tough if you aren't considering how and when you enter your hunting area....just trying to help.

Kbetts - thanks for the help... apparently I need it!  Rookie move from a rookie bow hunter, I guess.     :)

To add to that, I find a mid day stroll to be a good time to take my daughter or wife and daughter if I'm not going "deep" or trying to be in ninja mode.  I try to put the cameras in places that I can keep tabs on things but not necessarily in a spot I'm trying to kill them.  It makes the ins and outs easier and less intrusive.

And don't worry about the rookie part....we were all one at one time.

Here's a couple of interesting fellows.

The first one I sure would like to see!  Can't see it in the picture, but a doe ran in first and stopped then took off and this guy had his nose to the ground on her trail.  Just messing I'm sure, but still! 2nd buck was rubbing his head on the limbs.

I couldn't believe it when I looked on my card. It's on my property too. He's got some dandy buddies also. Will get them on here later today. Season comes in in 2 weeks. I'm excited.
