Do you have to pad the loops on a 10 or 12 strand d- 97 string?

Orion

Depends on how strong/buit up your bow tips are.  I pad all of my 12-strand D-97 loops, regardless.

I'll add a couple more strands to the loops in a 12 strand D97 making them 16 or 18 in the loops depending on which bow I'm making it for.Like Orion I pad the loops in all my low stretch FF type strings. It may not be necessary but I like to fill the string groove better with a larger diameter string in the loops. The only strings I don't pad the loops is a dacron string.

Broke N Arrow

I pad pretty much all my strings just to be safe..if a string is gonna break it will usually be at the loop..besides a heavier loop sets tighter in the string channel in the tips and doesn't move around as much..less ware..
