I haven't seen this posted so I thought I would mention that the Bear website shows the new color combination for the Takedown.  Looks like bubinga with gray caps.

bswear

I saw the bow last night.  I prefer the single color bubinga but that is just me!

I think a two-tone future wood riser would have been the best route.

Yea not crazy about it - the combo doesn't go well together. The riser caps look like grey futurewood in the picture but the wedges in the limbs look like dymondwood.

They're headed in the right direction with a two-tone concept. Add a gloss finish and lose the compass and I might actually have to get one... They did raise the MSRP by $10 though. I agree with the two posts above too...

And the 59 re-issue is up to $699! Can't say I blame them on that score.

Cmane07

I actually think it looks kinda cool.  To each his own, but I agree with their going in the right direction with the two-tone.

I like the way it looks as well.  Been waiting on them to bring out a new two tone riser.

I like it but agree that the limb wedges should match. Might look better with the bubinga wedge limbs.

I was thinking the caps look like dyed maple.  I like it but I think it would look better if the limb wedges would match the caps.   Maybe they used the black futurewood limbs just as an early ad-photo.

We need Craig/FL to fill us in.

I'm in the liking camp as well.

subsonic

I think it looks good as well.

I like this years TD more than the new one shown with it on the site.  I noticed the price went up on those as well, almost $900 for a Bear TD.

I like the 59 Repro.  I also really like the Super Grizzly and the Cheyenne.

You don't see much talk about either of these on the forums.  I wonder why?  Are they not very popular, not a very good bow, or what?  That 55 inch Cheyenne really looks nice.

If anyone has any experience with the Super Grizz or the Cheyenne, how about posting about it?

Nala, I bought a Cheyenne this summer and sent it back this week due to the finish going to pot after only 3-4 weeks.  It is a fine little bow as far as shooting goes, but the finish was crazing and also developing horizontal lines across the limbs top and bottom--looked like rungs on a ladder.  Bear customer service has been good about offering to replace the bow but said they can't guarantee the replacement won't do the same thing.  Said it is "normal" for their bows.  Hopefully the bows made this year have the finish issue fixed.  My Cheyenne was made last year.  I understand they have been working on the problem.  It was not structural but a brand new bow should not do that.

Since the Cheyenne was made after Fred's time and never was identified with him may be the reason it has not had the interest of the other models. It is a fine, smooth shooter--I draw 29" on a recurve and have no issues with the length.

My 59 Kodiak repro also bought this summer has been holding up great, but they use a different finish on them.

That looks far better than than what I saw on the website. I like it, make mine a A riser please.

Now I really want a 2014 riser! Nice!
