Been spending almost every other afternoon sense the first trying to get close for a shot. I know I can't get them in the air, Yet.!.

Been Seeing them on the ground in the almonds and been putting a sneek on them . Been having to make 30-40 yard shots on them. Been coming close.  The collared  ones stick a bit tighter than the morning doves. After Dozens of shots this year I finely got one. Good thing Im not doing this to feed myself.  Made a sneek on it and took it out of a almond tree at 25 yards or so. I only lost 3 and broken 2 arrows all week. Great season so far.

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Good shooting. You only need a half dozen more and you'll have a meal  :)  Maybe if you could find a small water hole you could get them to come to you in the evenings. Probably not as much fun as trying to put the stalk on 'em, but maybe more productive.

Congrats! And good shot! They are certainly jumpy little boogers. I wish we could hunt them around here, but the bunny humpers, whoops, I mean tree huggers, er that probly still ain't right, ... the other side put a stop to that. Which by the way, biologists from the DNR said we need a hunting season, because they are encroaching on other species, but apparently some people's feelings are more important than scientific based wildlife management, and they held a hush hush vote when all the sportsmen and women were working hard to feed their families.
Phew! Sorry 'bout that. Good luck, and good hunting. The first is always the hardest. What kind of bow are you shooting there? Looks nice.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

My first shot this year ended with a dead dove. .  B U T. .  I know I missed.  I believe one of the guys down the field hit it and it was gliding down field.  I shot at it as it was landing near my robo-dove decoy (they work great).  I told everybody I scared it to death.

Congrats on your dove shot.  They are pretty tiny.

Great job! I love shooting at doves and its a big bonus when you connect. I find hugging the ground helps when stalking. Yeah it's funny looking belly crawling to a dove but it works. Just gotta freeze when one is flying in or you'll spook the whole flock until you shoot.

Good shooting. I killed one last year and was in total shock when I hit it. Big puff of feathers. Cooked him with a mess of squirrels.RC

"Have I not commanded you ? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

I shot at one last year, it was about 45 yards out. My elevation was perfect, I gave him a 30 yards lead and the arrow passed him about 15 yards behind. Doves with a tailwind are fast.

Dove breast wrapped in bacon! Need at least 5 or 6 to make it worth it though. Only ever had one day like that.

Good shot.  Those Snaro bird points from 3 Rivers might help - they have a 3" 250 grainer that I own, but have not shot much.  Dunno, - don't use a bow on doves.  :D
