What shops, bowyers are a must see in Colorado Springs? Headed there tomorrow for 4 days to see my son at the AF Academy.

thanks, Rudy

If you can shoot the range at the Air Force Academy.  It is a very nice range to say the least. I don't know of any advertising bowyers in the Springs though.

Gotta go north and see RMSGear traditional archery shop

No bowyers that I know of in Colorado Springs but Mohawk bows is just southwest of Denver not to far. As for the academy range you can only shoot it now if you go with someone that is a member due to security getting stricter. For a city being that size there is hardly anything archery related.

I agree about RMSG worth a trip north.  New Cabelas in south Denver area's pretty cool too.

Thanks for the info. Will look up location of  RMSgear to see if it's possible. Will surely enjoy the weekend, and yes very proud.

Thanks to your son for his service. The Paint Mines out near Calhan (about 30 minutes east of the Springs)is very cool. The Native Americans used to go there to gather the materials to make paint and trade those off. Small Canyons full of multiple colored sandstone like you wouldn't believe. Great little hike and not too well know. While not bowhunting per se, a little history is always cool, and this one is cheap! The trip north to Denver for the shops I second BTW. Have a great trip!

Take your bow and shoot the academey range. I did when my son-in-law was there. Go to the olympic training center, Pikes peak cog railroad,Garden of the Gods, Royal gorge. There used to be a trad shop in Castle Rock but if think its no longer in bussiness.

What I enjoy most about trad hunters and this site in particular is the the abundance of good people. I have bought and sold gear without a hitch, and have learned much from the input I've received from my questions asked. They are always answered and then some. So it didn't come as a suprise that suggestions would come from members with sites to see, and what archery related ventures to be had.

It was with great pleasure that I received a PM from Matt.  Matt is a member of the Academy Archery Club, and offered to show me around. When I PM'd him back and mentioned that I didn't bring a bow but would be interested in a tour, he responded that he'd bring a bow, arrows and glove.  After all, with targets in sight it's much better to have an arrow in your peripheral vision. I liked Matt's thinking! On making my way to the range at the Academy, I couldn't pass a check point to get to the range, so Matt made his way to my location to escort me to the range. Once there we had about 45 minutes to shoot. Matt offered up a sweet shooting R/D Belcher longbow that happens to be made 15 minutes from my back door in Michigan (a short walk from where I grew up by Winans Lake).  Although I didn't do the bow justice, the best time was meeting, shooting and chatting with Matt. Thanks again Matt, for taking the time as it was one of the highlights of my trip.
