Not to be contrary, but I have always been told that since a deers tail is white on the underside, they will associate white with danger.  I have hunted with white feathers for a season or two, and my grandpa is convinced that is why I cannot seem to kill a deer.

Been using white vanes for years with no problems, but I hunt from a blind so ... FWIW
