We had a similar target at our annual shoot. It was a barrel suspended by a rope on each end, no saddle.
Lucky for me the target was a full sized bison   :jumper:

It helps to practice on the real thing before you  ride one of them barrel horses Roger...    :D

I'd say that needs to be your new avatar...   :clapper:

I think I'd need a shorter barrel so I wouldn't pull a groin muscle. Also stirrups would be nice !!

Not many horses would like a twang in thier ears.  They should make tha a 30 degree off center shot.  If not they should buck you off.  Just funnin
I went to one where the barrel was on ropes so it moved when you moved.   I love those novelty shots

I don't know why anybody would try to shoot their bow off a horse that doesn't even have a head

Actually, that's my kind of horse, pretty low maintenance.
I second the new avatar pic for you.

Nice form, I mean technique, I mean style buddy.

Ron, that's a nice picture of you on the horse. I see you're carrying your double 'barrelled' bow scabbard in case you run into some roughyin's.

The McAlester shoot had one like that but it also wobbled while you sat on it.
A muzzleloader club I shot at had one that was mounted on a big coil spring.
That was interesting...

I'm sure we could find a horse owner or 2 in WY that would let us borrow a couple for a week.  LOL

I have always liked when shoots try to be different then the rest.  It adds fun to the challenge.

We used a large log once for a mount from which to shoot a toughman target. By changing the direction of the target you can easily vary the difficulty of it. For a right hand shooter, a target directly in front of the horse, or slightly to the right of the horse becomes difficult.

Eventually someone is going to set up a range where you shoot at an animal target, and then after pulling arrows, mount that target to shoot the next target. The whole range could be shot from "horse back". Obviously it would require large durable targets.

I think that Roger and Ron both have found new avatars.

Steve shipped "Big Green" out a few weeks prior. Honestly though, I see why the Plains Indians had the short horse bows. If they had Shrew bows back then, we would all be speaking Sioux.   :bigsmyl:
