I'm new to recurves and aluminum arrows.  Got my sights set on a 2013 59 Kodiak in 40lbs and I'll be drawing it to 28".  It looks like the 1916 Legacy shafts would be about right cut to 29" and topped with 125gr heads.  What do you think, am I on track?

You should be in the ballpark, might have to experiment with tip weight-

1816 might get you what you want also.

I think the 1916 are just about what you would want, like Maxwell said though you may have to play with tip weight.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Good luck with your tuning. I'd like to see/shoot one of the new Bear '59s.
Don't know for sure what will work for you. I have some low pound bows and 1916s work for some and even 2016s work for some. I always shoot 125 gr. too.
Happy trails....   ('till we meet again, Dale Evans Rogers)
