Ron as far as I know Bear came back with the new lineup in 2011 and i heard the quality is better now.

I have seen them but never shot a newer one....I hope they are better and that they do well. Just seem a bit pricey for a factory bow......But Martins haven't gotten any cheaper either. I guess it's just the way things are.

If you really want a good shooter, get a 66-67 Griz.

The new Bears might be pricey to some but are still half the price of a custom bow and still shoots good. The Bear you buy today might be a collector in 25 years....... :)

Grizzlys are awesome.  Super Grizzlys are smoooooth.  Unfortunately I have only shot the old ones so I can't help you out but it would be fun to find a store with both and shoot them

I'm shooting a 2012 Grizzly and love it...

That said, I have nothing (traditional) to compare it to...  this is my first traditional bow after 14 yrs with compounds.  This "working mans" bow brings a smile that my Matthews could never touch...

What poundage are you shooting?

I have several older Grizzly`s, a 1960, 1967, 1969, and a 1974 that all get shot fairly regularly. They all shoot good, and when tuned, they shoot better than I will ever be able to make use of.

That said, I have shot the new Grizzly, Super Grizzly, and 1959 replica Kodiak, and the new Super Grizzly sure did impress me.

I am torn between getting a new Super Griz or a 60" longbow to hunt out of a blind with.

Does Larry Marshall know your looking to add to your collection? To think the abuse you give Larry every time he opens up his wallet....      :nono:

Stone Knife, I shot the new Bear bows at Cloverdale as they had a booth there.

Bows shot included the Grizzly, Super Grizzly, Kodiak, Kodiak Mag, Super 48 and two of their longbows.

Several shots through each at my leisure.

I should say that I have shot a mid 70's Grizzly the last couple of years.

To say that I was impressed would be an understatement!    The quality is back in the Bear lineup.   I would consider the Grizzly a bargain at it's price point.

BTW, the Kodiak turned a lot of heads and I listened to others at the practice bags bragging that bow up.   It is a LOOKER for sure.   Still, I would feel real comfortable choosing either Grizzly over it (I liked the way they shot better....less handshock).

I picked up a custom longbow from Striker bows for a lot more money, so that you know I am not a penny pincher when it comes to bows.

I would tell you to not hesitate if you are concerned about a lack of quality or shootability in the Grizzlys.   Matter of fact, I see one in my future real soon.

Good luck, Skychief.

Thanks for the input, I pulled the trigger last night and ordered a Grizzly. I can't wait to shoot it    :archer:

I've owned a mid-70s and a mid-2000s, both were 45# at 28", standard. Both good shooters, identical grips. If I get another newer one, it will be the dark brown/reddish riser standard model.

From the looks of the catalog they still are black dymonwood laminate not solid black maple.

Wish I could find one of those green ones in a 40# weight that didn't have a bunch of holes drilled or filled! Seems like all the ones I find have been bored and poured.
