Can you buy licenses ( hunting and WMA) down there ?  Are they good immediately or do you need to purchase them in advance ?
CHuckC

Bud B.

Purchase either online or at a vendor locally. There may be a fee charged by the local vendor of about $3.

Chuck, you can order them over the phone. You can purchase them down there if you want to. And no you don't need to order in advance, but of course you will need them active the days you hunt. I'm not sure about Georgia, but in SC the 3 day license had to be three consecutive days.

Just looked at mine, the WMA is good until 2/19.  Guess I need to go online and snag a three-day hunting still.

Anybody from WI or IL thinking of scooting down there for this ?  I have it penciled in and am thinking of leaving earlier, like, the Monday before, so I have a few extra days to explore etc, then stay thru to Saturday or Sunday.

Gee Chuck that might have been a possibility but I forgot about this hunt and already committed to going to K-Zoo.  I don't live far from you, would have worked out good.

Let's think about next year then Pete.

I had thought I could make it, but I'll have to wait for the next one. Lazed around most of the summer and fall with very little going on at work (I'm retired, sorta, so no matter), but now I'm overloaded with work!

I'm still trying to make a quick run down to Kzoo, and then up to Mt. Pleasant to see my folks, then back here to work.

Good luck, you Hill Gang Hog Hunters!

Two weeks from today I'll be huntin' hogs.  Hope to see one closer than 1/2 mile this time...

Let the countdown begin! Still iffy on my attendance, but I certainly wish you all the best of luck.

I'm a definite for this year, and I was in the picture last year, can I get added to the list in the first post now Darren?

Killie should be coming again as well as another friend.  Looks like we'll arrive on Thursday afternoon now, hopefully early enough to get in a little evening hunt.  Might depend on whether Killie got a better alarm clock than last year's....

Some questions before the trip.  At this time I plan to drive down and participate and get to meet a bunch of TradGangers.  Built a HH bow just for the occasion.

The proposed camping situation..  Is it truck camping or do I need to carry my gear in a ways ?

How "safe" is the campground , historically (re leaving gear around) ?

Will I need to use a tiny tent under a tree, or is there room for a slightly larger spread ?

Are we able to hunt right from camp or is driving to another point pretty much required ?

IS potable water available nearby or should i bring my own ?

For the folks that have done this and been successful.. how do you haul out said piggie, and do i need any particular gear to facilitate this feat ?

Starting to get packed already.

Primitive camping. No potable water. Big camp ground and walk or drive to hunt.I skin`m where they fall.RC

If we're at the same place as last year, lots of relatively flat ground for big tents right out the back of your truck.  Pick your spot.  Was safe enough last year.  Generally there were a couple of guys around camp at any given time. I hunted from camp, some people drove, some did both.

Wow, no real action on this post with the hunt days away?  Anyone still going?  I am assuming we are at the same camp location as last year then?  Or should I be finding my way somewhere new?

Folks, I purchased this the other day with the intention of giving it away during the weekend hunt coming up. I've recently found out there is an award in place for the first pig shot, so I need some help coming up with an award for this one. Help from the gallery would be appreciated.

I intend for this to be an annual award starting 2014. If I make it down, I'll present it during the hunt, but if not, I'll ship it to the lucky hunter.

Very nice pewter MADE IN USA pin by NY Artist Rich Dougherty.

I'm trying to decide what to do.

Work has kept me away from my family every weekday and night since Jan. 1.  Am scheduled to be gone this coming week until the day I would leave to head to the hunt.  Then, after returning, scheduled to be gone the next two weeks.

As much as I want to go, I have my doubts that it is the right thing to do.

Will make a decision by tomorrow night.  I am so thankful for a good job, but the travel sucks sometimes.
