Don has some great videos for us all - so keep coming back until he can get to them. I think Michael may still have some more pics too, but not sure - however i am sure he's busy as well - playing catch-up after the trip.  :campfire:

Our pleasure, all around, I'm sure, folks. I truly hope, yes, even pray, to see one of the benefits of this (really great) project be that other/more similar hunt raffles will be put on the Annual St. Jude Auction(s). So that many folks can donate some $$s (at least) and garner a chance at fantastic times/hunts. Ones that they otherwise would never have ANY shot at. I hope others see the real value of it too. I would not take anything in trade for the chance, presented to me by Don Batten, to be a small part of this project. I'll never forget any part of it, especially helping the Children of St. Jude - and meeting the unstoppable Miss Mills.

Well I finally got a few min to talk about the hunting.
Michael and crew got here mid afternoon on thursday. It didn't take any arm twisting to get them dressed and ready to hit the woods. I put everyone out and went to a spot where I could hopefully observe some birds going to roost. The spot I wanted Mills to hunt the first morning is one of my favorites to take a kid. Her brother, Woods had killed a turkey hunting with me 3 years ago in the same spot. My grandson Taylor took his first Gobbler at the same spot last year.

So I popped up a blind and crawled inside with my binos and camera. I think I had my bow too but I really wasn't planning on shooting anything.  there is a trail going into the woods by the dirt pile in the video.  these woods go on down to the lowgrounds of the river. Turkeys love to sleep in the trees down there and then head out to the fields in the morning to dust, eat and whatever.

After watching all the birds walk down that trail, I was excited for Mills the next morning. Her and Michael got in the blind a daylight. I took my bow and got in the same blind that I'd filmed from the night before.  About 7:10 a lone hen came out of the trail. A text confirmed that she had walked by their blind at 4 yards. I don't know where all those turkeys went when they hit the ground but they didn't walk out on that trail. Around 9 I had two more hens come out from the other corner of the field and join the first one. 5 min later, two longbeards came out about half way down the edge and headed to the hens. A soft yelp or two got their attention. I just wanted them to see my decoys in case they got turned down by the live hens. For the next 45 min they strutted and postured for the hens from as close as 75 yards to 150 yards from my blind.

I  sent Michael a text and told him what I was watching. He said Mills had ask him "Where are the turkeys?"  His reply was that they were out doing what turkeys do. Her reply to that was " I wish they'd do it here". priceless.  We came up with a long shot plan and put it in to play.

I'm gonna hold off and hope that Michael will come along and finish this story because I think he's the one who was able to make it happen.

Any more pics (or comments) - Don, Cory, Michael, Woods, Mills (others)? Not picking, just "searching" - also to save to my files -   :)     It was such a good, pleasant time for this ol' hoss (especially after my last year of virtually no hunts) that I hate to let go of it just yet -     :archer:

LOL - Great "advance to the finish" anyway, Don, in case we don't get a story anytime soon. I know they are a busy family. I heard the 20 pounds this time. I thought you were just kidding around when I falsely heard 40 pounds the first time.   :clapper:

The Langehans have been at the Gymnastics Nationals (busy, busy, busy - explains no posts, eh?) and I heard from Don last night that Mills  came in 11th in the  All Around. Outstanding - you keep on keepin' on with your Girl Power, my young friend.   :clapper:

It was so much fun, and soooo funny when my dad chased the turkey... so he and i were in our blind and my dad had his phone with him. Mr.Don had his and they were texting Mr. Don  said that he had two turkeys that were to far.So he said that y'all come on over here we went we were trying to see were the turkeys were with the binoculars he couldn't see them then i had them and found them. There were three hen and two gobblers. We started to walk through the woods.Since i had already been stung by bees so whenever i heard a buzz i stopped. WHEN WE WERE AT the corner we saw Mr.Don coming from his blind we met him he told us he knew were they were going,
