How I feel after several days of hiking, bow and elk tag in hand, with no sightings of a wapiti....

A morning scene from an elk hike/hunt...

Elk really do inhabit this part of the world....

Proof that elk live here, although they seem to disappear in September...

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

In very middle is a small snow field with dots on it, there are in excess of 50 elk on the snow and ground around it, this was preseason!

They say it's like giving birth.  No matter how hard it is or how much it hurts, sooner or later you are ready to do it again.

Newbie thinking the bears are bad.  lol

Well, here are two shots that describe the emotions of elk hunting:
Usually, I look this when elk hunting and this gets me fired up for more this fall

Unless I call a bull in to about 20 yards to my son and there is no shot available, then we look like this for awhile.

Did some bugling at night from that rock to help locate some pressured bulls.  We killed ours two days after this photo on the far left ridge.  Dying to get back.
