Anyone with any firsthand experience in this area?
Been doing some internet searching and made a few phone calls and was fortunate to end up talking to an outfitter and ranger (real nice guys) that steered me in this direction, specifically the Sarvis Creek Wilderness area.  I've read a lot of the area has had beetle kill, some is almost impenetrable because of dead falls...etc Any info is much appreciated.

Spent quite a few seasons there. Hunted there last in 2011.The beetle kill was significant..This makes some areas unaccessible by horse. No power tools in the wilderness so many of those same trails will not be opened back up.
In the areas that were accessible to horses there was a major overcrowding of hunters.

PV you were here and didn't stop by!  Bad bad bad...
I scouted there last year. Lots of the roads were closed in late summer due to logging operations.. beetle kill is outrageous all over the state it's such a shame.

PV

Didn't get over to your side of the mountain that trip Matty. We packed out early the hunting was so bad. Could not get the horses to where we usually hunt and the lower trails that were open were more crowded than the roads you can drive on.
If you are thinking of going back pm me.
