My son called me asking about a bow for my grandson. I make my own bows but I would like someone who has a good rep for making kids bows, any suggestions? Thanks.

Archie

Maddog bows made the two bows I got my 3 year-olds.  Excellent quality, and excellent price!

I picked up a Northern Mist for my Grandson, Hill style 48"-18# @ 20", got it on the Classifieds. When one shows up you have to be fast!

Check Raptor Archery, I was in his store today and Ted showed me the new kids bow he is building now.  Pretty cool bow, might give him a call.

Toelke makes the Tadpole for the little ones! Dreamed up by Dan, invented by Jared. I got my grandson one and played with it before he got it. WAAAAAY too much fun.   :)

I got my 7 year old daughter a Black Rhino 48" longbow last year.  They did have a shorter model for the smaller kids.  One thing you need to get with whatever bow you decide on is the $2-$3 little rubber end cap/limb protector.  Little kids are rough on bows and always sticking the end of the limb in the dirt while they stand there waiting to shoot.

Sounds like you want to get your grandson a nice little wood bow.  If it were me I would get one of those cheap $20 fiberglass bows with the plastic dual shelf grip.  Once they have had a chance to play around with the cheap bow, and you are convinced about their eye dominance then have one made.

How many votes are we up to for the Maddog? Yup, got another one right here, Mike makes great kids and big kids bows  :clapper:

vernon

Yellowstone Longbows also offers a kids model 1 piece longbow with a dual shelf-$100

My son's first two bows have been Elkridge Archery Pilgrims...his first a samll one, a keeper, and the one he is using now, when he is done with this one I will sell or trade and let him have more of a choice in his next bow,  Elkride, Blackrino, St. Joe River others have good reputations...

Go to Mike at 7 Lakes Longbows.Great guy, bows and prices. You can get into bow that you finish yourself for a VERY good price.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the help.I went with maddog, ordered it and will have it shortly. My son is also looking to get back into trad archery. I used to take him to the 3D shoots when he was about 7.He's 30 now so it looks like the tradition will be passed on.

Maddog, aka Mike McCready or Joe Dupree at Elk Ridge Archery if Mike is too busy.
