OK, so Tradgang is having it's 10th birthday and I've been here since the beginning days. I've seen all the stuff come down the pipes here for years. I'm not afraid to pay for good stuff, but for some reason when the BowHush gals did their little special last week, I thought, why not try it.  Why I didn't before this I don't know. I usually bite on Tradgangers recommendations pretty readily.  Well, I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. I just got a little 1962 Kodiak Magnum and set it up with Bow Hush and Hush Puppies.  Gotta say I'm pretty floored by the gentle little whisper.

The Bow Hush gals have the best kept non secret on Tradgang. If you've got a recurve and haven't tried it-do it, you won't regret it!!

Thanks Gals.   :wavey:

Just got mine in too. I have not installed them on my recurve yet, but will in the next few days. Everything I have heard about them is GOOD!

I messed around and I think I missed the special deal and when I ordered mine Fri.  I'm looking forward to getting them and trying them out.

Ray called me yesterday to tell me about these silencers....he isn't just blowing smoke. He was pretty danged happy about these on his old Bear.

That's a meaty answer Terry.    :biglaugh:

Yeah, that's really a good answer.  If you are worried about the weight of a wool puff ball you might want to check out the rest of your equipment.  If silences, of any kind really, would concern you to the point of not killing an animal then there is something very wrong with your set up.

Kind of like some of these guys arguing over an inch more longer feather. Like the minusculeness of the extra feather length is going to make or break a kill. Really silly.

They made a noticeable difference on my Palmer.  I'm debating on putting them on my new Rick ****** string when it comes in.  I think I'll try it without them first.

I definitely prefer the Bow Hush yarn on my string than the fuzzy pad on the limb I used to use.  Works just as well, if not better, and sure looks a lot nicer.

Got them on all my recurves and longbows to - hushpuppies that is . Just missed the deal on my last order and haven't tried bowhush yet. Maybe next time.

Chortdraw

I use only hush puppies on my bows. Every bow I built would go out with hush puppies unless they wanted something else on their string, and then I would try to talk them into the puppies! Make sure you put some wax on the center of the silencer where it sets in the string. They will stay in place. I like to be able to move mine up and down to better tune the bow. They are GOOD Girls!!!!!   :bigsmyl:

That special was "special" but the regular cost is pretty insignificant given the amount of material I got when I got mine!

On already quiet long bows, I have even used only 1/2 of a string silencer Hush Puppy and it worked splendid.

If they get wet, a slight pop of the string and it clears itself, being wool, it doesn't absorb much!

Terry,

I thought your response was spot on.  It's kind of like the pro sports draft.....all this hype based on speed, bench press, ect. but to me, I'm watching the 'game film', whether from TV actual games or 'game on film' as you've shown to see what really happens when it's show time for real proof. Also, I wasn't implying that the stuff is expensive either, I just never made that little effort to get it ordered. It's a bonafide value at any price.

Am I the only one that cuts them in half?  I don't do it because of the weight, although I guess that might be another excuse to do it.  Being cheap is probably a better explaination,  but really, I just find that half of one works just fine for me to get my bows whisper quiet.

I made a joke and someone got upset.... my bad.

Yeah Whip.....we make them 'over kill' so they will work on the noisiest bows.....so u can use less strands if you like as I do. And on self bows and hh style I also cut them in half.

I bought them both awhile ago and will be putting them on my palmer once I get it back from refinishing. I didn't wantto change the bow during hunting season but i'm looking forward to see how they work.
