Many years ago that's what many of us did with the first compounds and our old recurves.

In craft stores that have floral stuff they sell spray cans of different colors for doing fake flowers.
It is,a,dull but colorful coating without all the chemicals.
Works great.

This is how I did this one.  You could use leaves as stencils too.

Tremclad makes a camo line that works perfect.  5 colours all matte finish. You don't have to do much to break up the shape of a bow so I would suggest you don't need to go crazy making it look like something, the idea is to make it not look like something.

Nice camo Charlie, you are really are matching that corn.

Nothing with leaves and such..

Here are a couple "camoed" things I have done...
...nothing special..

I haven't tried this on a bow, but you might consider using something like a sponge to apply the paint in certain areas.

Be careful when you put the bow down in low light conditions. I had a buddy that put a real nice spray paint camo on his bow with all the leaf outlines. He laid his bow on the ground one morning in the dark to do something and when he went to grab his bow he couldn't see it! Had to wait till it was light out to find it ha!

For some odd reason, I have grown to love home camoed bows. I have a Baraga on the way, ordered with green glass. I know damn well it's going to meet up with a spray can, sooner or later.   :bigsmyl:

I remember a stencil kit that had the paint with it. I used the spray paint and some leaves off of the maple tree we had in yard. I wonder if that spray is still made. If you waxed the bow first you could remove the paint with mineral sprits after hunting season. No harm to bow finish. Camo everything had not really caught on yet.

It's fun to DIY.  I just duracoated some limbs today and working on a smoke pole too.  Will post some pics up later this weekend.
