How many Hill style shooters like a deep core grip?
«

Long story short, I picked up a Jerry Hill Grand Slam with a deep core grip ( first ive ever had) and after some time getting used to it, im loving it! At first it was awkward but after getting used to it I think my next custom purchase will be orderd with a deep core grip,....I like it that much!
Any other fans of the deep core grips?
Just for comparison I posted this pic, the deep core is far left.

What do you mean by "deep core"?

Lewis, if you look at the pic, you you will notice the greater distance from the back of the bow to the grip where your hand is placed compared to the others, the depth of the grip is quite a bit different. It may not look like a lot, but it sure feels it.

I like a thinner, deeper grip too, but you have to kind of match it up to your hand size or it kind of feels funny and may make your hand become tense.

I have a HH Big 5 with that grip. It's my favorite.

I like a deep and slender grip. I use about 2 1/8" deep and a fat 1" wide on my personal Echo.
The cross section plays a large roll in how the grip works and feels.
Nice looking bows MM

I am going to buck the trend here and say I like the locator. After a while I found all the grips are basically the same. It's a matter of feeling and placing the vertical line of pressure in the correct place in the palm of my hand. In time I have found the locator grip still allows me the feeling of that vertical line of pressure but also allows the grip to fit my hand better, I do have smaller than average hands. There is no right or wrong grip in my mind as everyone has different hands. What works well for me may not for the next guy.

Alan, you can have a deep cored limb (thick stack of laminations) and dished or straight grip. You can have a deep grip (from back to belly of the bow) and have either a straight or dished grip. The one pictured on the left in Moleman's picture has a slight dish to it.
I love the style of grip pictured on the left in Moleman's picture above. It actually aids consistent hand placement. And once you get used to it, it's hard to shoot any other style of grip.

I like them like the one on the left, with just the slightest bit of dish

I prefer a smaller grip personally, but then I have a medium size hand. I have differing grips as to style and depth. My ability to shoot those bows accurately seems not a matter on grip as much as other factors.I believe a comfortable grip however lends to a better feel for the shot.In other words if it feels right - it is right ( do it ).

When you heel the bow does your thumb overlap your index finger 1/2to 1 inch.I have a wedge grip where the sharper end is into the lifeline of my hand.

My favorite a deep, narrow grip with a shallow dish to it.Easy to take the same grip each time and they fit into the meat of my palm under my thumb.Deep, straight works for me too, locator grips on Hill style longbows just feel weird to me.
Left is 1-13/16" deep, works, but not as comfortable.
Right is 2-1/4", Perfect for me.

This grip on this one is 2" deep and I like it. I should have another with a 2" deep grip for comparison next week
