I am not seeing any coments about the bever tail . Any thoughts ?

Bowwild

I don't see how the loop side of velcro can be improved upon. I use others because they come on the bow. When I need new I go to what appears to be a life-time supply of the hooks in my drawer.

P.S. I feel like I'm getting a little revenge on those stink'n cockleburrs when I get a positive use out of velcro.

I've been using adhesive backed moleskin, cheap and lasts pretty good. When it wears thin just pull it off and stick some new on.

Velcro. As said already easy to come by cheap and lasts a long time and quiet!

Bruinbow.  Beavertail is just leather.  Well, it is if it's tanned.  Works about like leather.  I use leather or velcro depending on the bow.

The secret is to visit second-hand clothing stores or garage sales and find a seal fur coat.  Or, even better, let a friend or fellow shooter buy and store the monster and buy a few cuts from him.

I use calf hair for my rest and strike plates. It holds up pretty good and is deadly quiet.

I use a big, one-piece, cowhide rest with hair on, which covers top of shelf and side plate area.  Slick and quiet!  Let us know what you decide on and how it works out.

I was shooting this last weekend with the beaver tail and I really like it . After several hours of shooting , I cant see a mark on it and it is dead quiet and good arrow flight .

I've used all of the mentioned above. I like them all. The bear hair will wear down but it takes a long while. The plus is that they give you so much maybe for 2 or 3 uses depending on the size you use. The leather it comes with will last a lifetime! Seal skin looks great but doesn't last.  Again if you get enough. Who cares.   Calf hair that you can get at 3r with adhesive is a nice happy medium cheap $3 lasts a long long time. Get a few call it good. The furniture leg thingies. I like but they can be too thick. Good for a thicker side plate.  Moleskin cheap durable.  Lastly Velcro. Awesome choice. Super duper cheap. Lasts a super long time. Adhesive. And easily stored and carried in your bag for extra. Easy field repair too!!

longrifle

I use duck bill platypus fur, hard to find but will last forever.

Leather that I skive the edges flat - lasts and quiet, but probably not slickest.
